This 4-day private tour is not only a multi-day tour, but a chance to understand human evolution. The orangutan is the great ape in Asia who only lives in Sumatra and Borneo. Orang means people and Utan means hutan or forest “people of the forest”- we share 97% DNA with Orangutans. You will visit 3 Orangutan feeding stations: Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui and Camp Lekey.
You may see another exotic animal like Proboscis monkey-Bekantan the endemic primate in Borneo. Silvered Langur, Red-leaf Monkey or Pig-tailed Monkey are exotic primates difficult to see. You may see different kinds of birds, crocodiles in the river banks, plants and blossoms. This is a wildlife experience like no other.

Wow!! What an amazing experience. My sister and I travelled with Orangutan Applause and had the best time. Our guided, Maya, was amazing, the rest of the boat crew were as well. We saw so many orangutans, probiscis monkeys and lots of other wildlife. Maya was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and local area, always informing us of facts. The whole crew were always on the lookout for wildlife and were always willing to stop when we’d spot an orangutan. The food was amazing, we never went hungry. The boat was an awesome experience, getting to live on the houseboat was comfortable and relaxing. Visiting different sections of the Tanjung Puting NP was incredible and on the last day we got to plant a tree. We loved it!! 10/10 would recommend this tour. An unforgettable experience.

I strongly recommend using this company. I travelled with my animal and nature mad 10 year old daughter. We were so well looked after. Alan the guide was extremely knowledgeable about all of the animals in the jungle. He was able to tell us the history of the orangutans. His passion and respect for the animals really shone through. At all times Alan was professional and sensitive to his surroundings. Conservation was at the heart of this companies ethos. Which was refreshing to see as our experience with the Komodo dragons made me feel guilty for being there. The night walk was one of our highlights. Luring turantulas out of their nests. In addition Dessy was able to change our flight dates which we were having trouble doing. When booking this trip I would use only this company. I did a lot of research before booking and time and time again this company was recommended. Also, on the last day go straight to the airport. Don’t go back to Pangkalan Bunn as there isn’t a lot to do. Alan the guide is awesome. I strongly recommend requesting him. Thank you so much for an experience of a lifetime. 🙏🙂

This was absolutely one of the best experiences of our lives!! The Orangutans, people, and rainforest will forever be in our hearts. The crew went above and beyond to make this unforgettable and the experience was made complete by our amazing tour guide, Guh! The crew kept the boat tidy, served amazing meals and even refreshments in between outings. They were so gracious and always asked if we needed anything. The bed was comfortable, we slept very well, and there is a western toilet, shower and sink on board! Guh shared stories and information with us every step of the way and kept us smiling! He had an iPad to show pictures and videos and elaborate on what we were seeing. He even played a traditional Dayak instrument for us over candlelight dinners that brought us to tears. And we can’t forget his Orangutan puppet “Jojo” and his crocodile he uses to deter the macaques from climbing on board hahaha! Amazing!! Adults and children alike would be blown away by this trip. 10/10 recommend this for anyone that ever has an opportunity to go!!

I booked this without doing a lot of research, mainly because I was planning a trip to Indonesia and I saw the word "orangutans" in the description. In hindsight I should have done some research on other companies that operate in this area, but frankly I couldn't have made a better choice if I had. I feel like we got extremely fortunate. Our boat was clean, comfortable, and had everything we wanted plus some (we could even charge our camera batteries on board!). Our crew was friendly, accommodating, and did everything they could to make sure we felt like kings. And our guide Alan (better known as "Alanconda") felt like family by the end of the trip. He picked up on my son's interest in animals and planned extra activities for him that he thought he would like. HE DID! We have this ritual we do at the end of every trip where everyone shares their top 3 moments of the entire trip. All 3 of my son's were with Alan. I will say that the company needs to work on their upfront communication. Coming from the other side of the world and being a first-time visitor, I would have love to have a lot more direction (where do we fly into? how do we get to the harbor from the airport? when exactly does the tour begin and end, and do we need hotel accommodations on either end?). But once we established communication those details got worked out, and I really do feel like they bent over backwards to make this a memorable experience for us. I literally cried when saying goodbye to and thanking the crew. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us, and it couldn't have been better.
