What To Expect
Itinerary Day 1: Arrival and Trek to Shiloko Camp - After breakfast, take a boda boda ride to Mount Elgon National Park Bushiyi trail gate (1,800m asl). - Meet your guide, porter, and chef, and register into the park. - Start your trek to Shiloko Camp (2,600m asl), rest, and enjoy the evening with overnight camping. Day 2: Trek to Dubi Camp - After an early morning breakfast, hike through the steep and refreshing lush forests to Dubi Camp (3,600m asl). - Stay there, have lunch, dinner, and enjoy the evening camping fire stories. Day 3: Trek to Wagagai Peak and Back to Shiloko Camp - After breakfast, traverse through the beautiful panoramic heather zone on your way to Wagagai Peak. - Enjoy the views of other Mount Elgon peaks, including Masaba, Koitobos, and Sudek. - Celebrate conquering Wagagai Peak and descend down to Shiloko Camp. Day 4: Departure - After breakfast and a peaceful night, head down to Bushiyi trail gate to sign out and receive certificates. - Head to your next destination.

Memorable experience trekking on mount Elgon

5.00We enjoyed every time hiking mount Elgon via the Bushiyi Trail! Mount Elgon Eco Tours staff were professional and exceptional in making arrangements from park permits, food, Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, porters, chefs and vehicle transportation. we were picked on time early in the morning from mbale town and transferred to Bushiyi ranger post the trek starting point. We met our guides and started trekking through the forests, starting on this trail is gradual but gets tough and challenging later towards the end near the last camp. We hiked for three days so we trekked from the trailhead to shiloko camp, had lunch break then continued Dubbi camp for our first night. On the second day we trekked to wagagai peak our primary destination then descended back on the third day! If you ever hike on the Bushiyi trail, know this. The starting is easy and gets challenging later It is one way trail If you sleep in mbale, you will have to wake up early around 6am to get to the trailhead in time, but you can also sleep near trailhead to fully enjoy your sleep 😴 The chef usually boil water as the bottled one runs out but having a water filter or tablets is great backup. Park a light backpack 🎒 as the hired Porter only carries your food, water and camping gear, any extra luggage will require you hire an extra Porter. All in all, we had the best experience on mount Elgon, our guides, the porters, cooks and entire team did everything right to make us happy 😃

5.00In 2024, I and my friend from Poland planned to climb mount Elgon and hike at sipi falls. Lawrence and stuff from Budadiri had everything in program for us to have a successful tour. The montane forest hike was was exceptional, the views and landscapes surrounding were fantastic. We spent 4 days and nights on the mountain while sleeping at different camps. The food and accommodation was good, poters and guides took good care of us too. When we later went for the sipi falls hike, the falls and the green surrounding were so beautiful. We later had a coffee tour around sipi which was so fantastic. We enjoyed every step in our tour.
