We just got back from a 5-day budget safari, great experience with Meru!! We started researching operators a few months in advance but ended up confirming only a week before starting the safari. We decided on Meru Slopes after reading the reviews on various sites (google, instagram), they provided good value for money, seemed serious and reliable. We were not wrong! - Pre/Post-safari: they were very accommodating and flexible. We got the 2 nights in Arusha included and the transfers from Arusha airport and to Kilimanjaro on the way out. We found that not having to worry about organising these was an added bonus and good value for money. The hotel (Arusha tourist inn) is no-frills, comfortable and clean, and the airport transfers were on time and with very nice staff. We also liked getting sim cards on arrival. These things made us feel looked after by the company and just adds to the overall positive experience. -During safari: our guide Max was very knowledgeable and always took us to the best spots for finding the animals. We liked that he was keen to leave early and punctual in order to maximise the chances. On the morning of the Ngorongoro visit, we were the first leaving the camp to give us an early start in the park! He was respectful and responsible with the welfare of the animals and the parks - we were visitors in their home. Even with this, he made sure we saw all of the famous 5 and also the ‘ugly’ 5! The chef (Johanni) prepared tasty meals throughout, even for the picnic lunch - we appreciate that no plastic waste was created, as some companies seemed to provide fast food style packaging. We will definitely recommend Meru (and Max!) to anyone looking to visit!

  • 100% perfect - tour, guide, food,...

We were both on a safari in Tanzania for 5 days in October 2025. We booked the tour with "Meru Slopes Tours" and are completely satisfied and absolutely delighted. Everything worked perfectly from the beginning and the communication with our local contact - Leonard Mkwavi - was great. He answered all questions quickly and also met us on site at the hotel and explained everything. Perfect! The tour was incredible. We were traveling in a Land Cruiser with pop up roof and in our group we were five guests. The driver/guide - "Godli" Godlisten William - does his job perfectly. He knows everything and also explains of his own accord without having to be asked. The chef - I think his name is "Dadi" - also delighted us. We had 3x a great meal every day and no packed lunches as we saw them with other tourists. Taste great. There was always soup, meat and something vegetarian. All the people we had to deal with speak pretty good English. The safari itself blew us away - of course, we have no comparison. Sooooo many animals and you get so close. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, monkeys, buffaloes, warthogs,... We have hardly seen mosquitoes (I think five) - and that's why the drug is fortunately returning unopened. We had a tour with overnight tents and I would definitely do that again. The zebras right in front of the starry sky were a highlight. At the camp by the crater it was quite cool at night - so bring warm clothes. In general, the camps are pleasantly clean. In the vehicle there was often even Wi-Fi with internet. Occasionally in camps, too. Furthermore, there were also sockets in the car to charge the phone. In summary, I can only recommend such a safari to anyone.

  • It's a great company, a tour!

I think this company is great. The tour was well-scheduled and enjoyable from start to finish. Our guide JOEL was amazing, he was a good person and a good driver, not to mention a guide, who entertained us. It was a great 5 days to be blessed with some wonderful members. It was October, but I was excited to see wildebeest crossing the river. I was able to fully see the Big Five and met many other animals. I got in touch with you on whatapp immediately after booking and the company is solid and great. We had to change the departure date due to the group relationship, but they provided us with a hotel and food and supported us well. The hotel they prepared was so great and the staff were so nice and I feel so comfortable. After the tour, they allowed us to stay until the time of the flight, which made it feel good. We were in the same group as people with different days, so I decided to say goodbye first, which was a short day. It was hard to say goodbye because the members were so wonderful. That's how big the JOEL team was in me. I'm so glad I chose this company.

It was a very satisfying 5 days safari with the best members and guides. Our guide JOEL was amazing in everything he did: guiding, driving, personality! It was October, but I was able to see wildebeest crossing the river! Everyone is so excited and moved. We got to meet the Big Five and many other animals! The schedule was designed efficiently and we enjoyed safari in Tanzania, nature. I gave up this time because the price doesn't seem to include only the visit to Maasai, although it is mentioned. I also had the wonderful experience of camping on safari. The starry sky is full of animals as you feel close. You can be assured that you can contact us on whatapp immediately after booking. The schedule was changed because of the group, but they prepared the hotel and the hotel meal and took good care of us. We were a group of people with different days, so it was very lonely to leave a day earlier because the group was too cozy. We really had the best time for 5 days! I'm glad I chose this tour.

  • Pretty good, great guide

Bear in mind, I did not originally booked with this company but my original tour company basically put me in this tour as they were they trusted partner. I had the pleasure of doing a part of the safari including Serengeti and Ngorongoro with Samuel as a guide and it was the best part of my safari. He was so funny and engaging, and help us to become one team of friends for a few days. Among other things he was very communicative, he was always briefing of what to expect, where we were going, what we would encounter. He also went all the way to the northern part of Serengeti to see to great migration. His driving skills were very good and we sorted a flat tire and being stuck in the mud quite promptly. He also gave us the explanations of all animals we were encountering. He also delivered in terms of animals seen, we saw two groups of cheetah and had also about 5-6 sightings of lions from a male lion alone, a female alone, a family of lions, a baby lions sucking milk from the mother, female lions in the move I guess to hunt, etc. Of course we also saw lots of herbivores: wildebeast, warthog, buffalos, zebras, all sort of antelopes, three groups of hippos, flamingos, elephants, baboons and some other smaller animales and birds. We also saw rhinos, although very very far but it is very difficult anyway. What we did not see is leopards. The food was also pretty good. The accommodation was camping, which was what I booked and it was better than expected, especially the showers and the toilets and dinning facilities. The only thing that I was not aware of is that in order to fill a car, sometimes companies combine groups with different itineraries so you have to be flexible. For example after Ngorongoro, part of my fellow passenger had to go back to Arusha but I continued, so Ngorongoro was cut short, although the company gave us a walking tour in Mosquito river village to keep as busy. The accommodation before Serengeti and after Ngorongoro was also better than expected, I was expecting camping but it was actually a room with bathroom facilities.

It was really a unique and recommended trip. Our tour guide Samweli is very experienced and always picked the right spot for us so we could take great photos of the animals. We saw almost all the animals you could see. Camping in Serengeti National Park was a great experience, especially when you heard the lions up close at night. Our chef Gahdi prepared us fresh and very delicious food every day, it was so delicious. Everyone was very warm and polite. Our agent Shadrack planned the entire tour very well and always asked us about our well-being. The entire holiday and Meru Slopes Tours is an absolute recommendation. Hakuna Matata 🦁
