In the rich waters of Puerto Escondido, we have species that are the dream of fishermen. We have sailfish, blue marlin, striped marlin, goldfish, and yellowfin tuna. Come on our adventure, whether you are a pro or a novice, we will make sure this is the adventure of a lifetime. We will teach you how to hook your own fish, so you can feel the power of these magnificent fish. The adrenaline runs throughout the body! We have 29 years of experience, quality equipment, and good bait preparation will ensure that you have a great day at sea! We will leave Puerto Angelito beach at 7 am in a 27-foot boat, in 10 minutes we will be in the deep zone where the pelagics live and we will start our lure or bait trap, depending on what the conditions are telling us at that time. moment. We fish from 5 to 8 hours, always looking for action, looking for birds, dolphins, water color, temperature currents, or big trees floating in the ocean with lots of goldfish around them.

5.00We had an incredible experience with Omar’s Sportfishing in Puerto Escondido. Captain Alfredo and his mate Pablo were outstanding from start to finish. Communication was easy, they picked us up directly from our hotel early in the morning, and the boat, gear, bait, cooler, ice, and water were all ready to go. We headed offshore at sunrise and ended up catching a beautiful striped marlin that jumped multiple times. An unforgettable experience. Alfredo and Pablo worked hard the entire trip, stayed positive, knew exactly where to go, and handled the fish professionally. You can tell they do this every day and truly care about giving people a great experience. The boat was clean, the equipment was solid, and the entire trip felt safe and well organized. If you are looking to fish for sailfish, marlin, tuna, or dorado in Puerto Escondido, I highly recommend Omar’s Sportfishing. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Oaxaca and I would absolutely book with them again. Thank you Alfredo and Pablo!

5.00Fue una experiencia inolvidable con mis amigos. Agarramos dos peces vela entre muchos más durante las cinco horas. Nuestros guías (Enzo y su compañero) nos trataron increíble. Recomendaría traer una bocina para el viaje. It was an unforgettable experience with my friends. We caught two sailfish among many other fish during the 5-hour trip. Our guides (Enzo and his partner) treated us incredibly. I would recommend brining a speaker for the trip.

5.00We had a fantastic half-day fishing trip with Omar’s and captain Alex. My two boys, father-in-law, and I spent a beautiful morning out, fishing for Bonito first to get warmed up and then heading out to deep water seeking Sailfish and Mahi. Had great luck on our day out, and had a great bonus of watching Bottlenose Dolphins surfing at the bow of the boat. Overall, and fantastic day out with a friendly, professional crew. Exceeded our expectations, which were already high given all of the great reviews!

5.00What a great day! Our captain was a lovely dude and told us we’d be hunting sailfish but if we got lucky we might get the opportunity to reel in a tuna. And boy did we get lucky!! And 88kg monster of a tuna that took us 90 mins to reel in. Highly recommend. A great day on the water even if you don’t catch anything we still saw plenty of turtles and dolphins.

5.00Captain Omar was incredible - so much fun, full of good vibes, and made the whole experience unforgettable. He and his crew went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day possible. Not only did we catch a HUGE fish, but we also saw hundreds of dolphins and sea turtles. It’s a private experience that felt so personal and special and is worth every cent. Way more than just a fishing trip — highly recommend.

This was more than just a fishing trip—it was a full family experience filled with bonding, laughter, and learning about the ocean and its incredible creatures. We even got to see dolphins up close, which was magical! We were lucky enough to catch four sailfish—an unforgettable thrill! We respectfully brought one back to shore to have it cleaned and filleted for a fresh, delicious meal, while we released the other three back into the sea. Omar’s team was absolutely top-notch: knowledgeable, respectful, friendly, and super helpful every step of the way. You can really tell they care deeply about the ocean and the fish, which made the experience even more meaningful. This was our second time doing a trip with them—we enjoyed it so much last year that we booked again without hesitation. A fabulous day fishing and wildlife viewing in Puerto Escondido

5.00First, we did the 8 hour trip, which was not listed on the dropdown. If you are serious about taking such a trip, consider the 8 hour over the 5 hour. In our case, the extra hours were important due to a mid-day lull in activity. Did this on a whim. Always wanted to go on a private ocean fishing charter, but they are a quite a bit more expensive north of the border. My wife encouraged me to take a chance, and it was an absolute thrill. First, all communication with Omar was excellent and clear. My Spanish is sub-par, but Omar's English was excellent. On the appointed morning, a cab was waiting outside our accomidations at 6:30 sharp, as promised, and we were quickly wisked to our awaiting boat, and we were off by 7:00. Our crew were Alex as captain and Daniel as mate. These guys were absolutely awesome. They were as excited to be out there on the water fishing as I was. They even got my wife excited to be out there too. On the way out, they pointed out schools of rays jumping out of the water like popcorn, dozens of sea turtles just hanging out on the surface, and hundreds of dolphins, of two species, spotted and white belly, swimming to from all directions, checking us out, and following the boat. I have never seen this much aquatic wildlife action in such a concentrated spot. These guys used cues from the wildlife and what they saw, rather than fancy electronics, to find the fish. And find they did. Less than an hour in, we had the first significant hit, but were not able to get it on the hook. No matter, less than 30 minutes later, we did get a nice Pacific Sailfish on, and he started tearing away at breakneck speed. They both hollered "screaming reels" and told me to let the fish run for a bit. As I am a bit new at this, both Daniel and Alex provided much needed coaching, and Alex provided some very skilled boat handling to assist. About 20 minutes later, Daniel was able to bring the beauty shown below up for a quick photo before being released. We tried for a couple more hours, without further results, until Alex and Daniel noticed schools of yellowfin tuna breaking the water in a feeding frenzy. We spent the next couple of hours chasing them down, landing 7 nice specimens, and losing 2. Again, Daniel and Alex were going after these tuna with gusto. We began about 9 miles out, and ended up 15 miles out, at the conclusion of our chase. Alex was relentlessly chasing them down like a skilled border collie after some wayward sheep, while Daniel and I were jigging the lures in back. Again, I'm totally new at this, but they provided enough coaching that I was able to make a couple catches start to finish. My wife also had a blast bringing a couple tuna in. We kept the fillets from two fish to have prepared, both as ceviche and grilled, at a local restaurant. Delicious. Honestly, I can't think of anything Alex or Daniel could have done to make the day any better. A very memorable trip. In addition, on the way back in, when we were all a bit tired, Alex noticed a pair of sea turtles mating on the surface. He slowed the boat, and made a couple of wide circles such that we could get a better view, and take a couple photos. He was as excited to share this unusual scene as we were to see it. As a light skinned gringo I will offer three suggestions. First, bring pleanty of 50+ SPF sunscreen. Second, wear a long sleeve, sun rated shirt (rashguard). Finally, if you can find one, bring a neck gaiter, like what Daniel has on in the sailfish photo. The sun reflecting off of the water is every bit as intense as the direct rays. Brief summary, just go!
