This was an excellent cooking class! Our instructor was Bella, a well-spoken, easy to understand young woman. We first went to a few vendors near the school (I wouldn’t really consider this a market visit). Bella explained the cuts of meat she purchased, showed us the variety of herbs and vegetables she bought and talked about the two different types of noodles she got. We then climbed three floors (I’m not sure if there is a different place if someone has mobility issues) to a workshop prepared for the class of six. Everything was clean and in good condition. Sanitary practices were followed. We started with pho in order to give the broth as much time as possible to simmer. We grilled onions, shallots, and fresh ginger with skin on. Then we grilled beef bones until the marrow bubbled. These were added to the pot along with spices we toasted. The ingredients were covered with water and set aside to simmer. Every step and ingredient was explained by Bella. We made the mixture for the meatballs for Bun Cha and set aside to marinade. Next we prepped the vegetables for the green papaya salad. Spring rolls were next, learning to roll and fry. We then grilled the meatballs. Finally, one pair made the egg coffee. I felt like we made a feast! And most importantly, I feel confident that I could make each thing again at home, with a few changes. It was all delicious and so well organized that I would recommend this class to anyone interested in Vietnamese cooking.

We had a lovely cooking experience with Bella where we cooked 4 dishes plus egg coffee. The food was amazing and we were taken to the market to pick up the fresh ingredients which really added to the experience. We all helped cook each meal and ate together at the end which was a nice way to end with a sense of community⭐️

Lovely experience. You get to visit the market and pick some of the food you'll be cooking. The 5 items you make are lovely and create a good spread of food. Bella was great, explaining everything and asking questions to encourage us. There's not too much pressure but you get to do a little bit of everything. You get a cook book and certificate at the end which is a lovely addition.

This was such an amazing experience ! We got to explore the local market and learn about the ingredients before cooking the delicious food. We went as a 2 person group but we joined other groups too. It was amazing to learn about the process of cooking these dishes then getting to make it ourselves. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend but make sure you don’t eat beforehand as we made a lot of delicious food. Our guide was so kind and helpful too.
