Zemo Alvani

There is only one way to enter Tusheti with the car: from Kakhetian village Zemo Alvani, and it’s recommended to use bigger 4x4 only:

The only road connecting Tusheti with the rest of Georgia crosses Abano pass which is 72 kilometer of unpaved serpentine and 2850 meter high built in the 80s.

Omalo

The visitor centre is located in village Kvemo Omalo. In 100 meters from the board protected area signboard is situated the administrative complex of Tusheti Protected Areas – one of the most beautiful buildings in the area. The place is surrounded with pine trees. To the east from the visitor centre there is a scenic viewpoint with a breathtaking panoramic view. You will get information in visitor center about natural and cultural sightseeing of Tusheti Protected Areas.

Shenako

The village is famous for its unique impressive architecture – houses-towers. These residential places were designed to protect the family’s property as well the bottom floor of dwellings was used to keep livestock, with the living quarters, fireplace and etc while the top floor served for defense from enemies’ attacks. The peel houses of the commune had lost their defensive function late in the XIX century and it had begun to convert them into the accommodations of a new type – the houses with balconies. Alike the other villages of Tusheti, Shenako is in the checklist of UNESCO World Heritage Sites too. Diklo

Diklo village belongs to historical Tusheti. This is a real paradise for nature lovers. It is situated in Tusheti’s Alazani river valley between the Greater Caucasus and Tusheti mountain ranges.

Omalo

The mountain village Omalo is located in historical province of Tusheti, Akhmeta municipality, at an elevation of 1880 meters above sea level, between the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range and Pirikita Range. According to the 2014 population census, 37 people live permanently in Omalo. Omalo is notable for its unique ethno-cultural heritage, especially for its historical parts of the village, which is a great example of medieval architecture of Tusheti. Keselo Fortress is one of the highlights of Omalo. It was constructed in 1230, during the Mongol invasion. Later, it also served as a defense from the raids of Northern Caucasian people. The fortress mostly remained in ruins until 2003, when it got partially restored. Medieval residential houses of Omalo are the samples of Caucasian mountain architecture. Most of them in Omalo that survived up to this day are built during 17th-19th Century

Dartlo

For many people, Dartlo is the most beautiful village in the whole of Tusheti. The medieval settlement lies in the heart of the remote mountain region and exudes a unique charm.

Kvavlo

Every village of Tusheti is a historical monument itself dating back to the late middle ages. In Piriqiti gorge you can see one of the most beautiful villages Kvavlo. The road to Kvavlo goes through the village Dartlo.

Tusheti National Park

Parsma The Parsma village is located in Tusheti National Park, 2075 meters above sea level. A tower completely made of stone. The road to Tusheti is so beautiful that you cant believe what more passion can villages above bring – but some villages like Parsma leave all questions behind.

Girevi

Architectural style is common in Tusheti, but every village represents unique combination of towers, houses and nature. Girevi is one of the villages of Piriqiti community.

Bochorna is a village located in Tusheti region, Akhmeta Municipality, on the south slope of Makratela Mountain Range, on the left bank of the river Tusheti Alazani. It is situated at 2345 meters above sea level and is considered as the highest permanent settlements in Europe. Dochu Dochu was granted the status of a cultural heritage monument as a late medieval architectural structure. There are 6 real monuments of cultural heritage in the village. The village of Dochu is distinguished by three-storey houses and an abundance of balconies. Dochu is cultivated on rock Kim. It is also called the village of warriors "grown" on the peak.

This place is characterized by a moderately humid climate, with cold winters and long, cool summers. The main healing factors of the resort are passive climatotherapy and thermal hydrogen sulfide, hydrocarbon-chloride sodium mineral water, which is used for baths.The water temperature is 36.5 ° C. Coniferous forests, beautiful views and hot baths create the best environment for unwinding.

Alaverdi St. George Cathedral

The monastery complex and the Alaverdi Cathedral is located in the village of Alaverdi. The Alaverdi Complex is a 6th century Georgian Orthodox monastery. Alaverdi is the highest cathedral in Georgia (up to 50 meters). It dominates the surrounding landscape in a fertile river valley against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains. It is a cross with three apses inscribed in a rectangle. The interior of the cathedral is extremely imposing. Outside the Cathedral is devoid of embellishments, and the facades have monumental blind arcades and niches for decoration, which give the entire structure an air of monumentality and solemnity.
