  My wife and I paid $450 USD for a private tour, however, another family showed up as well. Don’t get me wrong, they were very nice but we paid for a private tour. The tour guide said there was some sort of confusion with the front office, website, etc. We may seek a partial refund. The guide spoke very rapidly and at times, went off topic and ranted about her political beliefs. She spent so much time off topic that I felt we missed out on important aspects of Vienna’s history. Also, we had to rush through the last hour of the tour because, at times, the guide would not get off of her political soap box and focus on history or architecture of the site we were visiting. Overall, what we saw of old Vienna was amazing but personal options of the guide and the willingness to express them in excess, put a damper on the experience.

  I recently spent a week in beautiful Vienna and spent a wonderful half day with Walter Juraschek ([email protected]), an intelligent, knowledgeable, and charming guide, who provided me with tremendous insight, information, and good humor during our time together. My request was to concentrate on the Jewish history of Vienna which Walter covered with impressive expertise but he is equally well-versed in the city, as a whole, which he knows quite well. I feel very lucky to have met him as he enhanced my visit by leaps and bounds. Also see, www.ikg-wien.at/en). And, go to Vienna, which is a cultural nirvana and very welcoming.
