I had been planning my Tromso northern lights trip for 8 months. I have sorted and read through every company online that is offering a trip to see the lights. It was endless narrowing down to find the right company that would fit my expectations of wanting a small group that is more personable, unique, and most importantly being able to actually see the northern lights not just a chance for it. After reading each of the websites fine line and sending emails to get to know each of the companies, I ended up choosing them after chatting and emailing with George. I just got the feeling it was the right one and I was surely not wrong. He answered all my questions and concerns I had for this trip especially since I was traveling with seniors. A day before my scheduled trip I was worried about the weather in Tromso, it didn't look promising. George reassured me not to worry. George was prompt at the meeting point, our group were introduced to one another and he gave us a rundown of the schedule and what to expect. You can tell he was a seasoned guide and his expertise is unmatched. We drove north-west where he found nice spot to set a campfire, weather was decent where we did not need the jumpsuits although they were prepared for us along with hand warmers. We sat and waited while he set up his camera as well as the drinks and hot food that he prepared. He guided us through and made sure we were patient till "Finally" the lights showed up. The lights were bursting along with the blanket of stars were once in a lifetime experience and surely George also captured it on his professional camera which he kindly emailed them to us. Having been on many guided tours all across Europe, Boreal quest was just different from the start and its George that makes the difference. His enthusiasm and passion to show us the northern lights at all costs is priceless.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. George was a kind, smart, wonderful guide with instinct that led us to a great spot to view nature's show. He carefully led us down a path to a beach with mountains and a lake to serve as pretty backdrops to our photos. We enjoyed a warm fire and delicious soup, took many photos, and just enjoyed learning about and admiring the lights. Bonus was receiving an email the next day with photos of us that George took against the beautiful backdrop. I would give this 6 stars if possible! Thanks, George.

After being frustrated with the weather in Tromso travelling with George to find clear skies was just the tonic we needed. At first we had to travel as far as Finland seeing the northern lights for a while before the haze came. We moved to a second spot that, then to the third and final stop. Just back over the border into Norway George took us down this single lane piled high either side with snow to an open area where we watched the Aurora not only appearing and dance for us with reds, pillars etc but it gave the most grand finale of a circlet above our heads when it exploded. We were treated to hot food by a campfire, expert knowledge of what was happening, where to look, how to photograph it, addition clothes, hand and feet warmers if we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. An incredible and magical night. Thank you George. And I only had an android phone! You should see my son's real photos.

I must say that this aurora trip was one of the best experiences of my entire journey. On the day we went aurora hunting, there was heavy snowfall in Tromsø and my expectations of seeing the northern lights were already very low. George was incredibly honest and kind — just before departure, he clearly explained the situation and even offered a refund if we decided not to join the tour because of the bad weather. Despite that, we all decided to go ahead with the trip. George then drove us about three hours away from Tromsø into Finland in search of clearer skies. At first, we could only see very faint northern lights. But George didn’t give up easily. He kept taking us to several different spots — places where even other tour groups didn’t go. And then, suddenly, boom — we saw an incredible aurora explosion on a night when the chances of seeing it were almost impossible. George also prepared soup, hot chocolate, and a campfire to keep us warm throughout the trip, which made the whole experience even more special. I would highly recommend Boreal Quest and George to anyone looking for an unforgettable aurora experience

Having recently turned 70, and thinking about what experiences I still wanted to have, "seeing the northern lights with my own eyes" made it to the top of my list. So I did some web research, selected Tromsø as my best bet for success, and explored many different guide/quest services, settling on Boreal Quest, with its small groups and high sighting success rate. George was a wonderful driver, host, and guide -- and he was determined (on a rough-weather night) that we would find a way to see the lights. He drove completely safely, but was clearly watching the skies as well as the roads, pulling off at unexpected times in unexpected places to take advantage of breaks in the cloud cover, and using his mobile phone to be in contact with other drivers, sharing information much as safari operators do. We got to drive through beautiful scenery, enjoyed a delicious meal, every once in a while George spoke to the group -- just the right amount of lore, just the right amount of science, and then: WE SAW THE LIGHTS -- after a calm first few hours, the skies opened up and gave us a heavenly show: pillars, swirls, drapery textures, bridge shapes across the sky. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. I'll always be grateful to George for his guidance, and for going WELL beyond expectations to give our group the experience of a lifetime. Watching lights shimmer and pulse in the sky, knowing it to be an interaction of our home planet and our sun -- it really felt like we were allowed a glimpse of the gods dancing -- a ballet in midair, made of light.

George was a wonderful guide and did everything he could to make sure we had a chance to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, there were clouds cover that evening. The plan was therefore to drive towards Finland in a minibus about a two-hour journey, where the weather conditions were expected to be better. However, we were lucky to spot the Northern Lights already at a remote location in Norway. At another stop we were able to catch the lights again and enjoyed a cozy campfire with delicious soup. It was a beautiful and very close-to-nature experience. Traveling in such a small group (6 guests and one guide) was great. I can highly recommend this tour!

We had the most incredible Northern Lights tour with George. After a lot of research beforehand, we were really keen to go with an independent company and a small group, as we wanted something that felt more authentic and personal. The weather conditions were really challenging and unpredictable on the night, but George was so enthusiastic and his dedication completely paid off, as we were treated to a brilliant, unforgettable display of the aurora after driving very far into Finland. Thank you, George, for going above and beyond for us, and also for capturing some great shots of us and the lights :) we highly recommend this tour company to anyone considering booking a tour to see the Northern Lights from Tromso.

Peter was our guide, and everything was amazing!! He was very passionate about the tour. I went with my parents, and he was very helpful all the time. Our group had 7 people and started at 5 pm. We stayed out until 2 a.m., and he was so good at finding the lights and stopping at the right stops. Amazing pictures. Would go again.
