Superb evening spent with George to see the Lights, which despite the very snowy day in Tromso, we did !! George was very friendly and knowledgable, and we drove out to secluded spots best placed to watch the show. Most importantly, George’s trip departs early to as to beat the multitude of tour vans all heading the same way !

We had the absolute most magical experience with our guide Peter from Boreal Quest! Peter is extremely knowledgeable and just a cool person to hang out with for a few hours. He was extremely committed to giving our group the best chance at seeing the Northern lights and found great spots to view them. The pictures he took are fantastic and very high quality, and he sent them to us very quickly after our tour along with a nice summary of our night! The van we used also had a cool rooftop window, which allowed us to keep an eye on the sky as we moved locations, and when some of us in the group noticed the lights emerging, Peter quickly found a place to pull over. We also enjoyed the lentil soup and hot cocoa, and we had a great group of people with us who made the night even more memorable. I can't recommend this tour enough--truly once in a lifetime and worth every penny!

We saw the Lights! The most amazing night ever! Nature gave us the show of a lifetime. Peter was our guide and I would definitely go on another adventure with him. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and passionate about the northern lights. Small group is the way to go and Peter will work his magic and help you experience the lights as we did.

Our leader George was determined to give us good opportunities to see the lights. He assessed weather conditions ongoingly, traveling to a spot with the clearest skues. He was knowledgeable and personable. In addition to explaining the lights, George happily addressed questions. He was responsive to individual participants’ needs. Refreshments included hot drinks, a delicious homemade lentil soup, bread, and cookies. At the end of the trip, he took each of us to our lodging. Not to be forgotten, George photographed lights throughout our trip and will send his photos in a day or two. This was a totally satisfying trip. George was excellent in all respects.

It was a great experience. It was a tough night to see the lights and George took us into Finland where we were able to see the lights!

George, of Boreal Quest, was a wonderful guide. He showed us the most beautiful Northern Lights we could ever imagine, far exceeding our expectations. He led us to a stunning location, a magical place where we were alone under a starry sky, surrounded by snowy mountains, the water of a fjord and the most sensational and breathtaking Northern Lights. He took some wonderful photos of all of us and the landscape and told us lots of interesting things about the Northern Lights. It was a unique experience!

My wife and I had an unforgettable aurora hunting experience, and it was truly special thanks to our guide, George. On that night in Tromsø, it was snowing heavily, which made the conditions more challenging. Because of this, we traveled many kilometers, driving late into the night and even crossing into Finland, until we finally found the perfect spot — at exactly the right moment — to see the northern lights. George’s dedication and persistence made all the difference, and seeing the aurora after such an effort was incredibly rewarding. The vehicle was very comfortable, and the warm soup and hot chocolate were wonderful touches during such a long and cold night. We truly appreciate George’s professionalism and commitment. Highly recommended — a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us as a couple.

We originally had a tour booked with another company that got cancelled, and because they didn't have availability while we were in town, they recommended George's tour that we gladly accepted. The trip with him was amazing! The size group was very small, so we were able to socialize with people with the same interests as us, making this trip even more enjoyable. Since the weather was so nice with perfectly clear skies, George chose to take us on a beautiful fjord, where the moon was lighting very nicely the landscape. Very soon after we left the town we were able to see the Northern Lights, and during the trip we moved to 3 different locations, the night being full of Aurora activity. George is so knowledgeable about the phenomenon, he explained to us so many things. We cannot recommend more this tour!

This is my first TripAdvisor review and trust me when I say George and Boreal Quest deserve it. It is so difficult to filter through all the different tour companies in Tromso, after reading a bit you quickly understand that smaller group size is generally a better experience. But even then, you still have dozen of companies and they all sound amazing. For me the stakes of choosing the best tour company were even higher as I was planning to propose to my girlfriend under the northern lights. Finally I shortlisted and chose Boreal Quest to do the job in this once in a lifetime night. I couldn’t have chosen better! There are no words. George was fantastic, communication was great leading up to the big day, he even helped me prepare a few surprises for my girlfriend (if you’re reading this George, can’t thank you enough!). We did a private tour with George, the weather was not ideal but George made the night a true “quest”, honoring the company name. From the beginning you can tell George is not your regular tour guide, he is super knowledgeable about the area and frankly speaking gives the most accurate (and understandable) scientific explanation of the auroras phenomenon (even better than different museums we visited). The chase of the auroras was super dynamic and a mix of gut feeling and science which was super interesting to see. We were one of the few people who saw auroras that night thanks to him and he made our night magical. To add a few extra points to this experience, the car is super comfortable and equipped with thermal suits if you need them. George prepared some tea and hot chocolate and cookies during the quest but the star of the night was the homemade lentil soup (you’re not booking this experience expecting great dinner but this was such an upgrade compared to other tours that give you “soup in a box”. Lastly, experiencing the lights in person was a dream come true and George was also able to capture many nice pictures of the lights and us (which he edified and shared in the same night!). We did other tours during our trip and they had great passionate tour guides also. But what Boreal Quest offers thanks to George (and Peter) is honestly a best in class experience for the same price point as other tours. Hoping this is helpful to whoever is reading and make the decision to go for Boreal Quest
