In this Rioja tour we will take you to 3 of the best different boutique family wineries in order to learn everything about their history and of course, enjoy a hosted tasting of their most selected wines. Before we head back to Bilbao we will take you to the award winning village of Laguardia and will give you a guided tour. Laguardia is famous for its underground cellars and is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval village of Spain.
We know how much you love your Rioja wine that's why we have selected some of the best boutique wineries of Rioja for your flight tastings.The wineries are deliberately selected for their contrasts and their uniqueness. Visit Haro to taste the Rioja Alta wines known as the traditional Rioja style wines. The Rioja Alta region has the biggest concentration of 80+ years old vines in the world that directly pass into the quality of their wines. Aged for very long periods of time, they never dissapoint! Visit the Rioja Alavesa wine region known as the Cote Dór of Rioja. High altitude vineyards with a proper Atlantic influence. In this region we find the majority of the small boutique family wineries were they master the tempranillo grape.

5.00We had a fabulous, comprehensive, four day private tour of Bilbao, the Guggenheim, the Rioja Wine region and San Sebastian, including pixtos experiences in Bilbao, Rioja, and San Sebastian. Irene López Martinez, the owner of Northern Spain Gastronomy helped my husband and I plan a wonderful, customized deluxe Basque Region experience. Our guide Marina was so terrific, knowledgeable, charming, accomodating and fun. We went to four fabulous rioja wineries, which gave us tastings of reserve and grand reserve wines paired with bread and nibbles. We were taken to charming medieval villages in addition to extensive visits to Bilbao and San Sebastian. I would highly recommend working with Northern Spain Gastronomy Company to plan a magical Basque Country adventure.

5.00Absolutely 5 star experience! Irene picked us up at the cruise port in Bilbao in her Mercedes van. She made us feel like VIPs, with everyone else getting off the ship doing group tours while we got our own. She made the most of the day, getting us right to the heart of the region and to some VERY special wineries. She answered all of our questions along the way. We enjoyed private tours, all to ourselves, with very friendly proprietors who were happy to host us. Irene gave us the royal treatment and personal service all day long. We learned so much about Rioja and the northern region from her. We thought "we love Rioja wines" but we had no idea! We got to share tapas and tour a family vineyard, and taste wine in a cave. It was all just incredible. To top it off, Irene is a sommelier and helped me understand the subtle differences in the wines. She has so much enthusiasm and runs her business like the expert she is. We highly recommend this tour - it was the perfect way to enjoy our favorite wine region within the time our cruise allowed. We hope to see her again on a future trip!

5.00Irene is absolutely the best guide ever. She's a trained sommelier and chef. She understood what we wanted from the get go and brought us to exceptional wineries. She's extremely energetic and knowledgeable about wines & food, and kept us entertained with interesting stories and information throughout the hour and a half drive from Bilbao to Rioja. She also owns Gastronomia Bilbao, which is a bar and cooking school. Next time, we will stay longer so that we can take a few of her cooking classes. It should be great fun.

5.00The tour was excellent but it was the guide, Marina, that made the day. When you spend 8 hours with somebody, it so important to have the right person/personality to make the day special. We are not wine experts and just enjoyed the experience and learning about Rioja

5.00We had an amazing experience with Jon our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable in wine, knew about history and took us to amazing bodegas. Im addition one of our friends heritage was from a town name Treviño and he accommodated the tour to take us to lunch there. He also took us to the most amazing views and he was very flexible! You will not regret booking this tour it is worth every penny!
