A morning pre-climb briefing and an introduction to our team precede the drive to the East Gate of Kilimanjaro Park – Marangu which sits at 1,860m. Here your lead guide will arrange all necessary permits and registrations for search and rescue before beginning the trek to the 2,700m Mandara Hut. The trail takes you through rainforest with a high chance of rain, so bring a raincoat. As this is your first day at altitude, we strongly recommend the following: o Avoid caffeine or alcohol. o Drink frequently and gradually, up to a total daily intake of at least 4 liters. o Take Diamox to relieve symptoms of altitude sickness. It is usually taken in the morning before the day's rise. Before you travel, consult your doctor to check for possible contraindications. o Pay attention to your body's warning signs and promptly report any unwanted symptoms to your guide.

Early in the morning after breakfast the group will leave Mandara Hut to start a moderate trek to the second high camp: Horombo Hut (3,720m). When you arrive at the camp that day, you will enjoy the view of two volcanoes at the same time: Kibo and Mawenzi. A few hours after lunch you have to do an acclimatization trek towards Kibo Hut with an elevation gain of 200 meters and then go back to Horombo Hut where dinner will be prepared for you. Note: The acclimatization hike is an easy hike with a slight increase in altitude to speed up the acclimatization process. Acclimatization hikes should be taken very seriously. They increase your chances of successfully reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro and save you from the effects of altitude sickness.

Choosing the 6-day Marangu Route was the best decision I could have made for my first time on Kilimanjaro, and honestly, a huge part of why I’m currently holding a summit certificate is because of the team at Burigi Chato Safaris. I was initially worried that an affordable tour might mean cutting corners, but from the second they picked me up, I felt like I was in the hands of family. There is something so human and grounding about the 6-day itinerary; while other climbers were wrestling with tent zippers in the freezing wind, I was tucked away in the A-frame huts, sharing stories and hot cocoa with my guides. What I truly appreciated about Burigi Chato Safaris was their slow and steady philosophy. They didn't just rush me up the mountain; they genuinely cared about my health and my pace. My lead guide was constantly checking in on my breathing and hydration, always reminding me with a smile, "Pole, pole" (slowly, slowly). That extra day they built into the 6-day itinerary for acclimatization at Horombo Hut was my saving grace. Instead of pushing straight to the high camp, we spent the morning hiking to the striking Zebra Rocks at 4,020m. It felt less like training and more like a scenic walk with friends, but it gave my body the exact boost it needed to handle the thin air the following night. By the time we hit the summit push at midnight, I was exhausted and freezing, but the Burigi Chato crew was incredible—they started singing local mountain songs to keep my spirits up when my legs felt like lead. Reaching Uhuru Peak just as the sun broke over the glaciers was a spiritual moment I’ll never forget, but the real highlight was the celebration at the bottom. The way the porters and guides cheered for us at the Marangu Gate made me realize this wasn't just a job for them; they were genuinely proud to see us succeed. If you want a trek that feels personal, supported, and professional without breaking the bank, you really can’t do better than this team.

I recently completed a 6-day group joining trek on the Marangu Route with Burigi Chato Safaris, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. We had a group of 10 people, which turned out to be the perfect size; we started as strangers and ended as a family, pushing each other through the toughest moments. I am so glad I opted for the 6-day itinerary. That extra acclimatization day at Horombo Hut was the key to our success, allowing 9 out of 10 of us to reach Uhuru Peak feeling strong. The Marangu Route itself is great because you get to sleep in huts rather than tents, which made the cold nights much more manageable. The team at Burigi Chato Safaris was professional and organized from start to finish. Our guides were the real heroes, constantly reminding us to go "Pole Pole" (slowly, slowly) to ensure we didn't burn out before the summit. The food was surprisingly good. The summit night from Kibo Hut was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but the guides were right there with us, offering encouragement every step of the way. If you are looking for an affordable, well-organized, and safe way to climb Kilimanjaro, I would recommend this group tour. It’s a challenging journey, but with this crew, you’re in the best possible hand.

I joined a budget 6-day group climb as a solo traveler and ended up making friends for life. The marangu route gets rets a reputation for being easy but summit night is no joke. Our led guide and his team from Burigk Chato Safaris were professional, encouraging and kept the group spirit high even when altitude got tough. The budget aspect didn't feelnlike we are missing out; we had warm meals, clean hut beds, and excellent safety briefings averynight. Having thaat 6th day for acxlimatization gave our whole group a much higher success rate. If you re worried about climbing alone join a group like this. Thanks Burigi Chato Safaris to get us to the top.

"We initially looked at 5 day trek, but the team at Burigi Chato Safaris suggested 6 day hiking for better acclimatization .Best decision ever! That extra day at horombo Hut allowed us to do short hike at zebra Rocks and rest .we felt relatively strong. The porters are real heroes they always arrived at the huts before us with a smile. We joined as two friends but finished as a family of ten. Being in the huts together meant we played cards every night and motivated each other when the altitude headaches started. If you're a social person, this is the best way to do Kili."The group-joining aspect was great; we had a mix of people from Australia, Italy, and the US, and we really bonded in the dining halls. My only tip for future guests: bring a very warm sleeping bag and earplugs for the huts! Burigi Chato’s Safaris was seamless, from the briefing in Moshi to the certificate ceremony at the end."If you are on a budget but want a succesful summit ,Burigi Chato Safaris i best choice for me

As a budget group-joining tour, making Kilimanjaro more accessible without compromising safety or basic comfort.
