This was a fantastic experience. It was a "Day Out with The Guys" and an opportunity to learn and share in Ghana's culture through drum. Jimmy was a magnificent instructor who filled us with knowledge and confidence. It is an experience we will always remember. MEDAASE !

I found Richard Akiti, the instructor to be warm, knowledgeable and a consistently patient teacher. I learned a delightful drum rhythm, a simple Gha song and dance of which he explained the meanings before each. His sweet Son recorded everything on my phone so I can remember what I've learned. This rich cultural experience is a great fit for ages 8-80, solo or groups! Richard Akiti is a Ghanaian treasure that you'll be glad b you found! IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are traveling and your internet access is unreliable be sure to take pictures of address, phone and other details before hitting book. Although I initially booked online, I wasn't able to get back into my booking or download the trip advisor app afterwards. Additionally the Tripadvisor confirmation email only contains a reference number (no address or phone number) which is useless when you're ready to hail a ride to get there. I find that part a little scary as a female solo traveler. I need all the information to be easily accessible in multiple places in case access fails in any one place. If not for the very helpful hotel staff at Roots Apartment Hotel, I would have missed this key experience of my Ghana visit. Thankfully they found Mr. Akiti’s number and he was very responsive.

We love it! Full immersion in the Ghanaian culture! Both drums (two types) and dance class is the best way to start this Ghana discovery, he even taught us to sing the traditional songs, so it is also a singing class. Full music experience, we got the videos on our phone so we can practice, thanks to jimmy’s son who recorded us and help us with the rhythm Jimmy is a very good teacher, we learned a lot of things in a small time. Thank you!

My family and I really enjoyed this experience. The instructor was patient and kind, and we learned to play traditional drums quickly. He also taught us a traditional dance and song. He was gracious, and his teaching style made it easy for us to pick things up. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

I went on my Birthday and Jimmy was such a delight to learn from! He was fun, patient and beyond knowledgeable about his culture, the history, as well as the present day meaning of both the drum lesson and the dance lesson! I would recommend Jimmy to ANYBODY who reads this! You will not be disappointed!
