Now it time to discover one of the gems of Akureyri. Ready for an adventure? A geothermal spa: The Forest lagoon. There are geothermal pools, a sauna, a relaxing lounge and an in-water pool bar. Enjoy the warm water, the song of the birds and the view!

What To Expect
Godafoss
45 minutes drive from Akureyri to the Godafoss waterfall (Goðafoss in Icelandic), one of the most spectacular and historic waterfalls in Iceland. The name means the "waterfall of the gods". The waterfall is about 12 meters high (36 feet) and 30 meters wide (90 feet), and it forms a horseshoe shape that creates a stunning spectacle of water and mist. You will have about 45 minutes to explore the waterfall, take photos of this natural wonder and, if you like, grab a coffee at the Godafoss Coffee Shop.
After admiring the waterfall, you will board the bus again and head back to Akureyri (50 minutes drive) but not exactly the same way. You will drive through the beautiful Fnjoskadalur Valley, up to the mountains and down to the Eyjafordur Bay with astonishing view. The Eyjafjordur Bay is the longest in Iceland, and surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

5.00The experience was great. The falls are breathtaking and the lagoon was so relaxing. It was a wonderful way to end the tour ant this port. Our tour guide was so fun and informative. He was originally from Germany and came to live in Iceland 20+ years ago. We all loved his stories. Highly recommend this tour. Please be aware when you go to the Forest Lagoon your reservation may be under the tour group’s name and it does not include lunch. They do have a small cafe you can purchase food items from, such as soup and sandwiches.

5.00It’s a lovely waterfall but I really enjoyed the forest lagoon and the knowledgeable commentary of the tour guide Theodora. It was well organized; lunch was waiting too.
