As the eons passed, sands and sediments settled at the ocean's floor, mingling with calcium carbonate. Over time, the relentless forces of heat and pressure transformed them into solid rock. When the waters receded, the dunes were sculpted by the gentle caress of the winds, creating the captivating architectural marvels we see today. Please note that during the holy month of Ramadan (March to April), visiting hours at Alwathba Fossil Dunes are restricted to the evening hours. The site will be closed during the first half of the day. We kindly request our guests to take this into consideration when planning their visit.
