What To Expect

Located on the north border area of Portimão and Alvor. With the big mountain of Monchique, that dominates the view when we are at the vineyards, this large property has also growing areas of cork trees, wheat fields and orange trees. In the family since 1865 and producers of grapes from a long time, this farm built their modern winery in 1999 and were the first producing certified designation of origin wines in the Algarve. In the esplanade, at the shop or at the oak barrels is visible the tradition of this family estate.

Quinta Do Frances Winery

Located north Portimão, already on Silves county. It's an exclusive wine farm production, the one located most north in the region ,right on the beginning of the Monchique Mountains. Owned by a portuguese-french couple that met at Bordeaux, where he was born and grew up surroundend by the influence of wine. They moved in the region at the beginning of the century to start this project from zero. In the slopes of Odelouca River Vlley, they planted their vineyard and built their small but well equiped winery, that also hosts a tasting room, barrels room and laboratory.

This was a really lovely tour. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel by Fabio who was very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions, no matter how odd! His English was brilliant so we could follow everything and he could understand our questions. It was a really lovely thing to do for the afternoon and felt value for money.

We were a group of 4 celebrating a special birthday. We were picked up by Fabio who was our guide for the afternoon. He was absolutely delightful! He was thoughtful, knowledgeable and a great host and we now know lots about the wine making process, the various types of grapes used in the Algarve and how the temperature and humidity of each area of Portugal affects the grapes. He made the tour interesting and answered all of our questions! The wines we tasted at both vineyards were delicious, and the tapas was plentiful, accomodating all of our dietary requirements. Would definitely recommend - 10/10, no notes!

Fbio collected us from our accommodation at the time arranged, took us to 2 wineries and gave us a very informative but relaxing tour of both. The wines sampled were excellent as was the tapas board, we really enjoyed the afternoon and would highly recommend this tour.

Great tour! Fabio is very knowledgeable and passionate about wine and the region; a very kind, easygoing person. We had a lovely time at the two wineries, where my partner and I shared the standard and premium wines (6 total). We got to taste some fresh grapes, see winemaking tools, and walk some vineyards. Bonus is being picked up and transported, makes the day so easy. Would absolutely recommend!

Incredible day with Fabio. We did the half day tour seeing two wineries. We were lucky enough to be the only two in the tour so it was a very personal experience. We were able to try the grape at different stages of maturity and got a really good understanding on fermentation and grape to bottle development. Fabio is a legend! The tour was very easy to follow no language barriers! Thanks fabio! From the 2 aussies

The whole day was very nice and the guide was very informative, and the wine was very good. You could choose from different kinds of wines and charcuterie on the side. Amazing views from the vineyards and very nice people working there. Would recommend!

Very pleasant experience with some nice wines. Tour guide was really good and waited for us after sat nav took us to the wrong place. Fortunately we were not far from where we should have been.

My boyfriend and I went on this tour with Fábio. He was really friendly and had a lot of knowledge about the wines and vineyards. We would recommend getting the tapas at each vineyard as well! We really enjoyed this tour and couldn’t recommend it enough.
