The Citadel is the heart of the Casbah, the ancient fortress that once served as the residence of the Ottoman rulers and a military stronghold. Perched at the highest point of the old city, it offers panoramic views over Algiers and the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors can explore its fortified walls, gates, towers, and inner courtyards while learning about its role in defending the city and its transformation during French colonization. The Citadel also preserves traces of palaces, mosques, and hammams that reflect the Ottoman architectural legacy.

Sam was a very friendly and professional guide. We were luckily just a small group of 6 persons. We got also a good restaurant recommendation in the end.

We really enjoyed our tour with Sam. The Casbah can be a little confusing so it's nice to have a guide being you around and saves you a lot of time. He gave lots of interesting facts about the history of Algeria and knew loads about the architecture of the city.

Excellent morning tour of the Casbah. Very knowledgeable guide who gave an overview of the history of Algiers that put things in context. Doing the tour without a guide we would have missed so much. Just the right amount of information and explanation to make it interesting without being overloaded. It was a small group of five which was perfect. Would highly recommended this tour.

A huge thank you to VIZITINA DZ for accompanying us on our tour of the Casbah of Algiers! It wasn’t just a visit, it was a real immersion in the soul and history of the city. My husband and I visited the Casbah of Algiers with the guide Ismael (Smain) and we really wanted to make a return on the visit because it was amazing! It is a wealth of information, anecdotes, photographs. Thanks to him, we really discovered the history of Algiers and our country. We are very grateful to him, it was a rich experience. And the icing on the cake is that he shows you all these places with his smile and sympathy. He's passionate and you can feel it. Thanks again!

I loved it! A place rich in history and authentic alleys with crazy charm. Our guide was just great. Delicious lunch in the Casbah at the homestay magnificent view of the Bay of Algiers, the moving home of the martyrs. The craftsmen are warm. My 6 year old daughter learned a lot and loved the experience. Best of Algiers.

This was everything a tour should be; informative, fun, perspective building, all topped off with a unique dining experience. Sammi’s understanding of the history, architecture and people of the casbah make this a memorable experience. The authenticity of the casbah and its residents is present and fully accessible. You will never feel pressured or submitted to the pressure of many cities. This is an amazing experience, not to be missed

The tour was an absolute highlight of our visit to Algiers. Aissam is not only very knowledgeable in architecture, history, culture, geography.... (name it all), but also has the unique traits to make the tour enjoyable. We could enjoy Algiers as locals and thanks to Aissam want to go back to the country to learn more about it. I am a frequent traveller, so I have been to countless tours and this tour was one of the best, if not THE BEST, I have ever taken up to date. Last but not least, Aissam is very fluent in English and also speaks good Spanish.
