Do not sleep on Elche! It was incredible to get out of the city and see this absolute oasis paradise. The short car ride to Elche was a great opportunity to learn about the history of the region. The botanical gardens were stunning, tranquil and the local peacocks were dazzling to watch. It was enlightening to learn about the origins and various palm plant varieties of the region from a true local. We loved that this tour included the Castle Santa Barbara with a private, dedicated guide. Perfect combo!

Exploring the history of Alicante. Javier was an excellent guide and storyteller. His knowledge and oratory skills made the tour interesting and entertaining. He walked us through quaint neighborhoods dating back to the 15th century, beautiful churches and the significance of each one, learned about the wars, aquaduct system and how history impacts life in Alicante today. We stopped for a tapa and drink at one of his favorite spots. We went back after the tour for some delicious Paella. Highly recommend this tour and Javier.
