Lempuyang Temple

Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple is a temple located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem, Bali. The Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple is considered part of the temple complex around Mount Lempuyang, one of the most respected temples in Bali. The temples on Mount Lempuyang, represented by the highest temple on the summit of Mount Lempuyang, Lempuyang Luhur Temple, are one of Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or "six world sanctuaries", the six holiest prayer places in Bali.

Tirta Gangga

The primary draw in this area for visitors is the Tirta Gangga water palace, a lovely maze of pools and fountains surround by a lush garden and stone carvings and statues. The one hectare complex was built from 1948 onwards by the late heir to the Kingdom of Karangsem but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. It has been lovingly re-built and restored and has an air of authentic royal magnificence. The centrepiece of the palace is an eleven tiered fountain, and there are many beautiful carvings and statues adorning the gardens. This is a great spot to unwind and it has a real atmosphere of old Bali.

The 3 attractions were good to see, however sadly they are very much full of people more interested in posting the “living my best live ever” pics than appreciating the sites. Sadly no info on the temple, but a long wait to have a photo. Tirta gangga was very pretty - again just full of instagramers, and the waterfall was pretty but, wait for it, full of instagramers. So if that’s your thing, great, but if you want any info/cultural history, forget it! Also, sadly tour “guide” provided zero info on anything…even on journey between sites!

We did not get to do anything else besides the Temple and Tirta gangga because of the tour agency poor planning and communication and we couldn’t get our money back for not making the waterfall. Depending on where you are staying, be prepared to be up extremely early, and to spend 6hrs waiting for a few seconds of pictures. Eat before going, eat when you first get there. The tour needs to just have two or less sights to visit for this tour since they know how long the temple wait is. I was not pleased by the amount of surprises we got.

Absolutely loved our day with Kadek and G'day. We were able to stop for breakfast and coffee on our way first thing and we were also treated to visiting Bali's Luwak Coffee. Kadek also is a fantastic photographer so he will take the pictures so you can enjoy the beauty all around. You will not be disappointed with this tour.

The gates of heaven were awesome, the waterfalls were beautiful and the kings garden was super cool. Our driver Jabrik was great. We had a great time and the pictures were amazing.
