Amsterdam Canal Ring
Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, has more than one hundred kilometers of grachten (canals), about 90 islands and 1,500 bridges. The three main canals (Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht), dug in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, form concentric belts around the city, known as the Grachtengordel. Alongside the main canals are 1550 monumental buildings.[1] The 17th-century canal ring area, including the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht and Jordaan, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010,[2] contributing to Amsterdam's fame as the "Venice of the North"

Captain Tim did a great job explaining the history of Amsterdam and pointing out modern and historical nuances. The all inclusive had a spread of drinks and snacks. Well worth the price and time

This experience was comfortable and fun! It was definitely informative and we learned a lot about the history of the city! The drinks and snacks on board were delicious! Here comes the “but”. Do not book this tour if you want to talk. The captain shared a lot of cool info but spoke nearly the entire time and did not welcome other conversations. We were hushed multiple times. And by “we”, not just me and my partner, but other people on board the boat. Nobody on the boat was being rowdy by any means—it just seemed as if he wanted us to be silent the whole time. At one point, a guest on board asked a question and the captain responded “wrong question” and turned his back to us. Later on, I said “I have two questions”, asked the first one and got an answer, then said “can I ask the second one?” and was met with “no”. Later on he did revisit me and allow me to ask, but in the moment it was jarring. All this to say, do not book if you want to have a fun time and converse with those around you (or even ask the captain questions that are relevant to the information he is sharing).

We wanted a smaller boat for our group of 8 and this held up 30 people. The canal trip lasted 90 minutes and was £35 approximately per person. Dave was very knowledgeable and provided us with plenty of information during the trip. The boat was covered for our evening trip but at the rear of the boat it was plastic screening instead of glass so visibility poor. There was plenty of beer, wine and soft drinks available but the Dutch snacks that were included were disappointing. Otherwise we enjoyed our trip
