What To Expect
Take a informative interactive guided tour at Ancient Tonga. You will learn and try making our traditional meal the Lu. You will learn and see the plants. Learn about tapa making, weaving and our traditional mats we wear called taovala. You will taste kava, learn about Tongan medicine and beauty products. You will end the tour with light refreshments and tasting your Lu (traditional meal) we make.

5.00We learned so many interesting things about Tonga and its culture. Jessica was a wealth of knowledge as she shared about dress and we got to try clothing on and got pictures,, native plants used for medicine, how the national drink kava is made and we got to drink some, how to open a coconut and we got to drink coconut milk. So much good information and experiences!!! And we saw how the Sunday special dinner was made and got to eat it for lunch. Don’t miss the best Tonga experience on this island!!

5.00My daughter and I did the Cultural Tour. It was very interesting. We were shown about Kava, traditional wall hangings and various skirts worn, medicinal plants and making a meal of chicken, onion and coconut milk wrapped in taro leaves and all wrapped in banana leaves and cooked. We had a lovely meal at the end of fried chicken, the chicken parcel, yams with beautiful fruit afterwards. Oh and lovely tea!

5.00I learned a lot about traditional Tongan culture from this experience the guide was fantastic and the food at the end was out of this world! Come hungry because the description says you’ll get a “light” refreshment, but you get a full meal which was enough for me for dinner.
