This tour, by Due South Travels, is a 2+ hour guided walking tour of Antigua, one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Our local guide will give you tons of great information, including the history of the city and its architecture, the geography, culture, and religion of historical and modern day Guatemala.

During the tour we will visit and discuss Antigua's significant landmarks. We will talk about the volcanoes and earthquakes Guatemala has experienced, the Mayan ethnic groups, the Spanish invasion, and modern day life here.

We are different from the four hour walking tours offered in town because we don't take you shopping (too much pressure!), however, our local guides would love to bring you AFTER the tour if you'd like a thorough explanation of jade or if you're interested in bargaining for some beautiful handicrafts. You'll also receive plenty of other suggestions for things to do in and around town.

What To Expect

The Plaza Central Park

This Due South Travels tour will walk a leisurely route from Iglesia de la Merced, down 5a Avenida, through Central Park. Then we will visit the cathedral ruins and head past Tanque Union Park, and end at Iglesia de San Francisco.

Our tour guide Luis was awesome! Super knowledgeable, and friendly. Any question I asked he was able to answer in detail, and took us to all the spots we were hoping to see. 10/10 Would recommend.

My husband and me enjoyed this two hour guided tour with the guide Luis. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. He told the history of the city and many other topics we were interested in. We could for sure recommend this tour and this company. We walked around the city and could stop for a pause if we wanted to.
A must-do experience! Friendly, kind guide who helped us learn so much about the rich history & culture of Antigua

We so thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. It was my husband’s favorite part of our entire Guatemala trip! Our guide was so friendly, welcoming and informative. We did not feel rush and felt that the pacing was perfect. We loved learning about the incredibly rich history and culture of Antigua. Our guide seemed to have a lot of friends in the community and was very respected by others. He was truly so kind, and through his connections, we got to meet some very friendly locals. The jade museum was so fascinating! The churches are so beautiful and are packed full of history. Additionally, our guide gave us some great recommendations at the end of our tour! We highly, highly recommended this tour!!!!

Amazing way to learn about Antiguas history and culture. I would recommend to do this near the beginning of the trip so you get a better sense of the city and its hot spots. Carlos was an amazing, knowledgeable, accommodating, patient, and funny guide who made our tour unforgettable. Definitely book with Carlos if you get the chance.

This was a highlight of our trip to Guatemala. Carlos was FANTASTIC. He knew so much about the places he took us to and took the time to find nice places for photos and videos of us. I think we even went beyond the standard tour time so he could show us more places. He is a gem.
