One of the most sought-after Northern experiences, a Yukon winter vacation is only complete with viewing the aurora borealis cascading across the Yukon night sky. A chemical light reaction caused when solar energy interacts with the Earth’s atmosphere, producing dramatic, dancing waves of green light from one horizon to another the Northern Lights have captivated viewers since the beginning of time, as evidence by the many Yukon First Nation legends they’ve inspired. We invite you to join us on our Aurora viewing tour at our custom built Aurora viewing location, far from the lights of the city, so you can experience the Northern Lights for yourself – and create your own legends.

Our tour guide was very difficult to understand. Her Japanese accent was particularly strong. Although she was reasonable passionate about Northern Lights she lacked the communication skills to engage those on the tour and have any lengthy conversations. The drive out to campsite took 50 minutes and we barely had 10 minutes discussion about what was going to happen or interaction with the guests The fire in the teepee with the marshmallows was good but the tour guide was not there and many of the other travelers did not venture out to it. There was tea, coffee and biscuits available at the main cabin and a slide show of an explanation about the Northern. lights which lasted for about 20 minutes. The viewing platform was good but people kept moving in front of the cabin and the flood lights would continuously come on and off - frustrating when searching for weak Northern Lights as we were on that evening as it is very early in the season. We did not see any Northern Lights that night and packed up and left the campsite about half an hour earlier than originally anticipated for some unknown reason. Absolutely no verbal discussion on the 50minute drive back to Whitehorse from campsite. Personally I think the tour operated should not have offered these tours so early in the season. Cannot recommend this tour with the same tour guide.

Oh my gosh, what an experience! We got a great show! It was cloudy sometimes but our guides were so great we kept occupied and enjoyed the experience! I would come back absolutely!

The viewing center and staff were amazing. You have access to a place to warm up, beautiful teepees with a fire inside and lots of options to sit down and take in the light show (if you're lucky... We were, this time)

Sadly didn't see the lights but the viewing area was really nice. Staff is on time and try to provide everything that they can. They also have activities like fire and presentation so even if you don't see the lights there are still things to do. I wish they have both native speaker and non native speaker guide present just because it was hard to understand the guide sometimes.
