What To Expect

Ancient Theater of Thorikos

Experience a journey back in time with our guided tour from Athens to Cape Sounion. Depart from Halandri Metro station and relax in a comfortable bus while learning about the mythology and history of the area. Discover the ancient theater of Thorikos, the oldest preserved theater in the world, and admire the historic ancient silver mines of the region.

Depart Athens with a friendly escort (archaeologist) by bus from the Halandri Metro station and reach Cape Sounio when the sun is about to set. The best moment to enjoy the picturesque area of Sounio is during sunset. Walk around the magnificent Temple of Poseidon, one of the most important temples in central Greece and second most important after the Temple of Acropolis. Discover the signature on the marbles of various famous authors who passed by the Cape of Sounio as the romance author Lord Byron (1810A.C) who couldn’t resist and left his marking on it. Let the romance aspect of Sounio travel you while you watch the idyllic sunset fading into the clear blue Aegean Sea. Immerse yourself in this de-light-ful evening experience watching some of the richest and most beautiful districts such as Varkiza, Glyfada and Palaio Faliro.

The temple and scenery are wonderful. Our guide and driver were also great. We walked around and took photos, but there was a lot of time to kill before the sunset - the tour could perhaps be a little shorter. Keep in mind there is only one restaurant at the site, and it is accordingly overpriced.
