We went exclusively to watch the Northern lights. We had a great experience but northern lights were very scarce and be barely were able to see Northern lights. However Christmas at Rovaneimi is fantastic. We stayed at the chalet which was exquisite and comfortable. The whole place is very scenic, cold and beautiful. Nepalese taxi drivers for superb.

We went on a tour to see the Northern Lights and we couldn’t ask for anything better! Our guide Gianfranco Sottile, Anitta and Valentina Manzoni were extremely professional and competent, providing us with a wealth of information on the science behind this natural phenomenon. From the start, the organization was impeccable. We were accompanied to the best spots to spot the aurora, away from the city lights, and we were lucky enough to witness a breathtaking sight in the sky. The game of green and purple colors dancing above us was really exciting. In addition, we were provided with all the necessary equipment to stay warm and offered hot drinks and typical snacks. I highly recommend this tour with Safartica!!!

We hit the jackpot! Open sky, high solar activity and knowledgable friendly and positive guides made it a night to remember. Valentine and Frya told us a lot about lappisch history and about the aurora. When we were at the spot Valentina showed where the aurora was and then it started! The beautiful colours were even visible by the naked eye! The BBQ and music topped the night of!

The tour was great. Unfortunaly we didn't see the Aurora, but the tour guides made the experience even greater. Sausages and all other stuff were delicious. Thank you Ana, Špela and Claudia from Slovenia

It was a good experience, different from anything we are used to doing. We were lucky enough to see an aurora borealis even so faint. The guides were very kind, they made fire , it was a good time spent together.

Thank you very much Safartica in particular Julien, Raul & Anita for being the tour guide for Aurora Borealis Picnic I visited Rovaniemi from India just to watch the Northern Lights. I loved the first night's light show and picnic so much that I had to book for the second night. Anyone who is looking at this review, if you haven't had a chance to see the lights yet I would recommend to book via Safrtica as they have options for pickup & drop from your location and the guides are well informed and polite. Again, thanks Anita for your patience, Raul for being a perfect host and sharing tons of knowledge on Northern Lights and lastly Julien for going the extra mile and showing the printouts to make us understand how the Northern Lights are created. The pictures I have shared are not edited. On the first day the lights (red & green) weren't that strong, but just see the pictures of the second day 🤩; spectacular green just lit the night sky!

We did two tours with Safartica during our time in Rovaniemi - a three hour e-sled snowmobile tour through the forest, and the aurora evening picnic. Both were very good, although I personally liked the small group size of the e-sled more than the large group used for the picnic. The tour guides were very helpful and friendly, and provided plenty of snacks. The snowmobiling tour was excellent, it was advertised as through the “wilderness” and the tour guide delivered! We took a break halfway inside of a wooden cottage where there was also a fire (warmth!) with grilled sausages and delicious cinnamon pastries cooked over the fire. For the aurora picnic, there was sausage and dessert cookies over a fire and we were inside of a teepee so it offered a little break from the cold, which was nice. Also, the suits provided for both activities were very clean (which is not an experience we had with other tour companies during this same trip). I would take another Safartica tour! Note: if you’re looking for an aurora “hunting” tour where the guide changes location to find optimal conditions to see the northern lights, this aurora picnic is not the tour for you. The location was predetermined, with only a chance of seeing the lights — we got lucky because solar activity was strong that evening. Otherwise, it would have just been a picnic in the forest.

The guides gave very clear instructions and winter gear given to us was clean. Pick up and drop off was very smooth as well. We went on the day with one of the strongest auroras so that was a plus! The food and drinks provided was adequate (love the berry juice and cookies), and the guides were very accommodating to our requests and gave us plenty of time to take photos and sit around by the fire and eat (we don't feel rushed at all yet completed the whole activity on time). Would highly recommend!

We didn’t see one but it’s something you have to do if you go, because surely you only go once and have a barbecue in a cool teepee and if you see the auroras I don’t even tell you anymore.
