  This is a wonderful family-run business and an excellent value for the price. Jose and his son were friendly and welcoming, and they guided us on a beautiful ride - first through green grasslands with scenic mountain views, and then along the beach. The horses were well maintained, calm, and an absolute joy to ride. Our entire family, from our 10-year-old to my 70-year-old mom, loved the experience, and we all said we would do it again when we return to Ensenada. Jose also arranged transportation with a taxi driver, Penguino, who picked us up at the cruise terminal. The drive to and from the stable was about 45 minutes and scenic. Penguino was punctual and easy to communicate with, and he even stopped at a local fruit stand to introduce us to a local snack called tostilocos, which exploded with texture and flavor. Thank you, Horses by Jose, for creating such an unforgettable memory for our family vacation!

  I can’t speak highly enough of this place. I was in Ensenada for the day while on a cruise. I found Horses by Jose through Viator. I chose not to book an excursion through the cruiseline, because they tend to be quite pricey and crowded. I was looking for something more off the beaten path and authentic. We had a few hiccups getting there, totally my own fault. But there was always a staff member available to help. This was such an amazing experience. The crew took several pictures and videos. That allowed us to be present in the moment, while they captured videos and photographs I will cherish forever. (These were all airdropped to me after the trip, at no additional cost!) The scenery was amazing, but the highlight was the stroll along the beach. I was able to run my horse, while videos were captured for me. My sister was more interested in a slow walk, and they accommodated her needs as well. There were only two of us, and we each had our own personal guide to help us navigate our journey. If you’re looking for horseback riding with beautiful, highly trained horses and breath taking views, this place is a must! Affordable and unforgettable! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  Amazing personable experience! Jose and Junior escorted us and made sure we were safe yet could trot or gallup if we chose. Erin booked our taxi from the cruise port. Junior took a ton of video and pics! he even got off his horse together, a few seashells for us!😍

  We booked a last minute riding tour with Jose and it was nothing short of amazing! As we drove into La Mision the fog rolled in so we didn’t know what to expect. We ended up being the only two on guided tour which was pretty special. My fiancé had never ridden before and I haven’t been on a horse in over twenty years. Jose made us feel safe and rode with us the whole time. As soon as we got to the beach it was such a vibe. The gray day only added to the mood and Jose let us loose with the horses. We galloped right there on the water and it was epic. If you have the time book this trail ride and you won’t regret it. Can’t wait to return.

  I had some unexpected time off and was looking for a last-minute opportunity to ride in Mexico. I found Horses by Jose online, but I wasn’t interested in being just another person in a group trail ride. I wrote to them explaining my love for horses and my hope for a real ride through the mountains and on the beach. The response was warm and personal right away. They helped arrange transport from the border, a place to stay, and excellent food at very reasonable prices. I was already impressed before I even saddled up. On the first day, Jose took me out alone for a gentle ride so he could get a sense of my experience and style. He speaks English, but it was also great to practice my Spanish with him. After the ride, I met Erin, who I had been corresponding with. Once Jose understood my riding level, we planned a more adventurous ride for the next day. And that day was incredible. We rode up into the mountains, through valleys and open landscapes, and finished with a long, exhilarating gallop along the beach before returning to the ranch. It felt natural, free, and exactly what I’d hoped for. The ranch itself is alive in the best way. There are about 36 horses, all in beautiful condition and clearly loved. Many are bred and raised right there, each with a name, a personality, and a story. You see the family caring for them, grooming, feeding, laughing — along with dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and a very talkative turkey wandering about. There are foals too, which makes the atmosphere warm and welcoming. You aren’t visiting a business — you’re stepping into a real ranch and real lives. If you love horses and want a ride that’s genuine, personal, and deeply respectful of the animals, I can’t recommend Horses by Jose enough. I will absolutely return.

  This was one of the most unforgettable experiences I have had in a long time. The communication was amazing right from the beginning. We had a taxi meet us with a sign at the end of the pier. Easy walk directly from the boat. Then a 45 min drive through some really cool hills/mountains. Arrived at the ranch and I was happy to see that the horses looked well taken care of. All had shoes on and their coats were glistening and none of them were skinny. Very well kept animals. You could tell their owners loved them. We got on right away and off we went. Nice ride through a trail and then the best part THE BEACH. You could tell the horses loved the beach. They had some pep in their step when we got there. If you felt comfortable you were able to gallop as fast as your horse wanted to go. Trust me they loved to go. It was like a playground for them. My daughter had ridden a horse twice before this and only walked. I myself a very experienced rider told her to hold on and let’s go. She did amazing! I would come back to Ensenada just to do this excursion. We found out that Jose jr was a 6 time rodeo champion. Very impressive. He was also the one taking all the photos from his very spunky 4year old. Book it!! You won’t be disappointed!

  The staff was wonderful, so helpful and friendly. The horses were beautiful, riding horseback on the beach was absolutely magical. I got to canter and then my favorite galloping along the waves it was incredible. We are planning to do this annually because we had so much fun. If you want to horseback ride on the beach I recommend Horses by Jose. it was everything I could’ve imagined and more.

  Jose and his team did an awesome job! My family and I had a great time! Beautiful beach ride! The drive is 45 minutes from the port and they set up transportation for you. Our driver took us to a delicious taco restaurant on the way back, then took us back to the ship.
