My mom and I took this cooking class and really enjoyed it. We don’t speak French, nor Wolof so the coordinator arranged for an onsite translator/assistant. We went step by step from washing the veggies, seasoning the protein of choice and properly cooking everything. Our jollof rice came out very tasty and even had leftovers. I will say, jollof making is a process and so the class was about 4 hours long but the results are worth it. 10/10 recommend

This was an excellent detailed experience! This was my first time in Dakar and I have never made nor tasted Jollof rice. This was the perfect intro into Senegalese culture. The instructions were easy to follow and our teachers were excellent. They even surprised my partner for his birthday with balloons and a small cake as well as treats for the class. Wonderful wonderful experience and I would book again!

This was easily one of the highlights of my trip. The organizer was so kind and responsive over WhatsApp—every question I had was answered quickly and thoughtfully (as a solo traveler I had many). The women leading the class (translator and cook) were truly the sweetest. So warm, so patient, and made the entire experience feel really special. I’m still eating the jollof I made (the portion is extra American size), and I’m honestly so proud of it. More than anything, this gave me a whole new respect for the time and care that goes into the dish. Seeing it on menus now hits completely differently. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed this cooking class! From start to finish the instructors were so nice and helpful. It was wonderful to learn about Senegalese culture and food. My rice turned out amazing and I was left with plenty of leftovers. I highly reccomend this experience for a fun cooking day in Dakar

This was such a great experience! The cooks really took their time to explain everything, and you even prepare your own pot, which makes it very personal. The portion is huge—I could honestly eat from it for three days! The taste was incredible. I can absolutely recommend this class—it was one of my highlights in Dakar.

It’s an understatement to say how great of a time I had! We were a large group traveling from a law school in the states, but the accommodation provided by the instructors was truly generous. It felt like I was getting a lesson from my mom and sister back home. I could not recommend this class enough. And the final product was the best food I’ve had on the trip thus far!
