This is a project run by Betsaida, Zapotec woman, born & raised in Oaxaca. This project started 6 years ago with the simple desire to share to the world, the beauty & cultural richness of Oaxaca.
We’re not only proud of our roots, but also deeply committed to support the local consumption. From farmers, artisans, cooks, market vendors & more in order to promote a sustainable tourism. Therefore, once you join us in our experiences you’ll live and participate to the preservation of our culture, which is our main focus.
As consequence, Me Encanta Oaxaca is a phrase that expresses how passionate we are, and we believe that once you live Oaxaca, it’ll cast a spell on you.

The tour can be around 10 people.
The distance walked is about 1 mile.
Prepare for some uphill and stairs, it might not be adapted for people with walking and standing issues (streets are not adapted either for wheelchairs).
We suggest not making any type of reservation before 4 pm on the day of your tour.
Transportation to/from meeting point not included.
This tour is not really suitable for Babies (heat and walks can be an issue for babies and kids).
During holidays and high season, tour can take longer.

Join our Authentic Cultural Oaxaca Food Tour, eat like a local on a 6 hours food walking tour, while you taste more than 24 delicious typical Oaxaca foods, drinks, fruits, mezcal and more at the 3 main markets and 2 street food stalls, while we talk about culture, history, gastronomy, traditions, important characters & recommendations while walking through nice places. During the tour you will discover why Oaxaca is the heart of Mexico & one of the most important gastronomic destinations, where corn is the main staple food and is served in a seemingly endless variety of dishes. You won’t regret it !

5.00Ellie and Caleb were a fantastic duo! I thought everything was informative, fascinating, delicious and beyond helpful to have a local who takes pride in their city and history to show visitors around. I would not have known how to navigate the markets on my own. It helps that you are sharing food with your group because you can sample everything without waste. Definitely DO NOT eat breakfast if your booking starts at before 10a.

5.00This tour was hands down the highlight of our trip to Oaxaca. Betsaida was incredibly knowledgable and warm and really just a very fun hang! We learned so much about the history of the city and its people. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING. We ate at many different places over the course of our stay, some of them Michelin starred, but after the trip when my husband and I were ranking our favorite things we ate, 4 of the top 5 were from this tour. One thing that was very unique that we definitely wouldn't have been able to do on our own was to try a bunch of the different fruits in the market. They made sure that everything was sanitized for our delicate American stomachs and Fatima was constantly handing out wipes and sanitizer to make sure we stayed out of tummy trouble. Book this tour, I promise you wont regret it. If you can, book it on one of your first days in town so you can revisit your favorite spots!

5.00This was an absolutely amazing experience we tried over 20 different foods and learnt a lot of history behind the food. I have a real understanding of the flavors of Oaxaca and I never would have tried half these things if it weren’t for this experience. The portions were perfect and everything was very hygienic. The tour guide Ellie was amazing, she was so thoughtful and truly passionate about the food, the history and the guests! 10000% recommend this activity!
