It takes a little time to get here from central Osaka.
You change trains and travel into the mountains.
It is not the most convenient location.
And that is exactly why this is where real sumo exists.
The morning training held in the mountains of Izumisano is not designed for tourists.
There is no staging.
No performance.
No scripted explanations.
What you witness is the serious, everyday training of active professional sumo wrestlers, unfolding right in front of you.
The intensity, the sound of bodies colliding, the tension in the air —
this is sumo as it truly is.
Within Osaka Prefecture,
this is the only place where you can observe the morning training of active sumo wrestlers at such close range.
For those who value authenticity over convenience.
This is a one-of-a-kind sumo experience, well worth the journey.
An interpreter is scheduled to accompany the experience, so international guests can participate with confidence.

Once inside, you sit respectfully and quietly to observe the practice as it happens right before your eyes. Watching Morning Training (About 90–120 minutes) During the session, you will see the wrestlers go through a full morning routine, which typically includes: Stretching and warm-ups — wrestlers preparing their bodies for training Basic sumo movements — such as shiko (leg stomps) and suriashi (foot-sliding steps) Butsukari geiko and other contact drills — forceful pushing practice Practice bouts (“mōshiai”) — wrestlers testing each other in practice matches These scenes show how rigorous and disciplined their daily training is and give you a rare look at their preparation away from public tournaments and ceremonies
