Only eight places in the world produce volcanic wines. Just think of the romance that surrounds wines grown in soils born of molten earth and ash. Volcanic soils account for only 1 percent of the world’s surface but contribute a much larger percentage of the world’s great vineyards. Volcanic wines have captivated adventurous wine lovers looking to shock their palates with something different.
This is a micro-production wine from the volcanic Azores islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is grown in volcanic basalt at sea level, less than 50m from the Atlantic. This terroir and the blend of varieties imbue this wine with incredible minerality and purity, as well as unmistakable stony flavours, salinity, and a savoury character, minerality and volcanic wines walk hand-in-hand. Volcanic wine regions are home to some of the most intriguing and characterful wines in the world. Azores, the place where the stone became wine.

Surpassed all expectations. Victor is truly a gem, connects with clients and provides facts and interesting insights. The stops are well paced and enjoyable. Best part is the wine and food experience as final stop. Truly, an authentic and amazing experience. Can’t recommend enough.

This was a fantastic tour. Victor is a wonderful tour guide. His years of experience is evident with the level of customer service provided. After the driving tour and stops at several locations, he and Hélia took us into their home for a feast meats, cheeses, homemade jams, and dessert with a wonderful discussion of the country and its traditions. Victor has a couple different tours including a military history tour that we were able to get a little of just because of the questions we were asking. We absolutely recommend this experience.

Excellent tour with Vitor, personable and knowledgeable guide. We visited the wine museum, tasted some fortified wine, viewed the vines, stopped by the natural pool and had a tasting of three wines hosted by Vitor and his wife and accompanied by cod fish cakes, cheese plate, freshly grilled sausage, and Dona ameilda cake.

The tour was fantastic. It wasn't just about the wine, we learned so many things about the island, land, culture and food. Our guide answered so many questions we had. The highlight was the meal at the end of the tour. Very casual, warm and the food was fantastic. I can't recommend the tour enough.

Vitor was right on time, picking us up in front of our hotel. We shared the tour with one other young couple from Utah. The tour was the best food tour that I have ever taken, and I have taken many in various countries. Vitor and his wife made the tour so special. First, we went to wine co-op and learned how wine was made. We visited the vines and had wonderful wild cherry tomatoes to munch on. The real highlight of the tour was what came next. Vitor took us to his house where his wife had prepared wonderful tapas for us to enjoy with the wine we sampled. The wine was great as was the food. We were served jams, and liquors made from the grapes in Vitor’s garden. But the most delightful thing of all was visiting with Vitor and his wife for three hours while we enjoyed food and wine. I highly recommend taking this tour.

Spending a few days on Terceira and wanted to see areas outside of Angra. I found Vitor's wine immersion tour and had a great time with him and a few other guests. Biscoitos was beautiful and the wine museum there was a great introduction to the island's wine making and history. Vitor was conversational and provided a lot of great information. We spent the latter part of the tour in Vitor's courtyard having delicious snacks (breads, cheeses, and meats) and enjoying more of the local wine. The rose and white wines were a delight, as were the sweet cake his wife made and the dessert wines/liqueurs. I can't wait to come back and visit with Vitor again!

This was an amazing fun tour, filled with a lot of information and laughs. The views have been some of the best views we got to see after even being on the island for a week. The wine was delicious and we were given a few different ones. Vitor and his wife were super welcoming and her food was AMAZING! I've been recommending the tour to friends and family since getting to experience it yesterday!

Our wine experience tour with Vitor was the highlight of our Terceira trip! We loved it!! Vitor is so knowledgable about the history of the island and the wine! My father was stationed here during the war and Vitor made it even more special by taking us by the base and telling us about life on the island at that time. He stopped at some breathtaking spots to show us the beauty of the island. We ended our time at his house where his lovely wife had a delicious array of cheeses, local treats and delicious wines. We felt like we had made some new friends. I highly recommend this tour!

Can’t say enough great things about our tour and time with Victor! Superb way to spend the afternoon - learning about the wines of the Azores, the culture surrounding bull runs and the food that Azorians enjoy. It was incredible to spend time with Victor and his amazing wife at their home. Eating, drinking and learning about the wonderful culture on the island. Victor is an awesome host and I highly recommend this experience.
