Candy Cane Mountain
The Candy Cane Mountains are shale mountains in the Khizi and Siyazan districts of Azerbaijan, part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. The 'Candy Cane Mountains' were originally dubbed so by travel author Mark Elliott in his guidebook 'Azerbaijan with Excursions to Georgia'. The mountains' colors are produced by groundwater that alters the oxidation state of the iron compounds in the earth.

We had a great day on this tour. The drive was scenic with such picturesque landscapes. Can not pin point with certainty which spot was the best as there were plenty. Khinaliq village was the final stop of this tour and the beauty of this place can not be expressed in words. The tour was made very comfortable by the tour guide Leyla. She is a very sweet, lively, humorous, informative, understanding and accommodating person. She ensures all guests are comfortable to make the journey very pleasantly memorable. I certainly recommend this tour who appreciates a scenic landscape created by nature.

An incredible tour! Murad was patient, attentive, and incredibly informative, truly bringing the local history to life. He perfectly navigated unexpected heavy rain and flooded streets, seamlessly coordinating all our hotel pickups and drop-offs without a hitch. His group management was fantastic, and he met every request with a smile. He went above and beyond to tailor the day to our interests, taking us off the beaten path to a breathtaking mountain viewpoint for unforgettable photos and videos. A truly exceptional experience—thank you, Murad!

To begin with, yes, the tour is long. And sometimes you think during the ride that you would like to stop and take photos because the surroundings are so breathtaking. Unfortunately, you cannot always see well from the car. But in hindsight, I find the photo stops very well chosen and also sufficient. I also feared that the tour might be stressful, but I find there were enough stops and also time to take photos there. Those who enjoy strolling might feel a bit pressed for time. Khindaliq is an absolute gem! Such a fascinating and beautiful area. For me, it was the highlight of my trip to Azerbaijan. Leyla was also a great guide - always kind, helpful, and funny. I can highly recommend this tour!

We were treated to beautiful landscapes throughout the day, and the stunning vistas we encountered were truly breathtaking—make sure your camera is fully charged! Our guide, Leyla, was the highlight of the trip. She was very enthusiastic and very hospitable, making everyone feel welcome and included. Her deep knowledge and storytelling made the tour fascinating and engaging for the entire group. I highly recommend this tour, and Leyla specifically!!

My tour was easy to book and inexpensive. My tour guide, Ilkin, reached out to me a night prior to my scheduled tour; made all necessary pickup arrangements at my hotel; showed up on time in a clean well-maintained vehicle. Throughout my excursion, Ilkin was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating; willing to answer our tour group questions. Can't recommend enough to book this excursion to “must-see” - stunning panoramic views, and some traditional lifestyles of high mountains inhabited villages with many miles of winding mountain roads next time you are planning to visit the beautiful city of Baku. Lovely fun time!
