Tour started on time. Driver made a quick stop to allow us to grab a quick coffee and breakfast. We got to Emerald lake in good time. Lake is absolutely amazing! Literally emerald in color and overall woodsy look of the area made it magical. Lake Louise was in all its winter glory with snow having fallen the night before! The other lakes were all beautiful! If you’re looking for a relaxing trip this is definitely one to book. Long but quite worth it. Make sure and take the gondola ride up the mountain - definitely worth the price! If you are adventurous you can take the walk to the top of the mountain as well!

We had booked our trip for the day prior, but the operator requested that we consider changing the date of our tour. He proposed rescheduling our tour from Tuesday, December 10, to Wednesday, December 11, 2024. We negotiated the timings and agreed to the alteration. On the date, our transport from our hotel - Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary Airport - arrived in good time. There were a few other passengers to pick up around Calgary before we headed out in the mini van on our planned itinerary, northward into the Canadian Rockies. Everything went according to expectations. It was snowing in December, so it was cold outside. The day was a little overcast, but we remained snug and cozy while travelling in the vehicle. Our tour guide and driver was very polite, gracious and accommodating, and had plenty to say about the sites that we visited. The lakes and gorges and scenery were wonderful. So many spectacular photos were taken. And we even went to Natural Bridge. We did encounter a challenge at Lake Louise. One of the members of our small tour group - a 12 year old boy - slipped on the lake ice and injured himself quite badly. In fact, he had fractured his arm. There was no alternative other than to get the lad and his parents to medical services. Our tour operator ensured that this happened as quickly as possible. Not much could be done in Lake Louise chateau, so we headed back to Banff together. He was taken to hospital for emergency care. Meanwhile, I and my wife were taken to the Banff gondola (ticket prices were extra to the tour) and we went up to the summit to try to catch a glimpse of the sunset. As I said, it was rather cold and overcast, so there wasn't much of a sunset to see, but the view down onto Banff was awesome. We didn't stay long at the summit facility. We felt that we had to get going since there was still quite a journey back to Calgary, and we didn't want to miss our late night flight. The injured boy and his family had to remain behind in Banff. The tour operator arranged another travel vehicle for them and we drove back to Calgary to collect our luggage from our hotel and drop off at the airport. It was a tight finish for our expectations, but for my wife and I, all's well that ended well and we caught our flight to Vancouver without delays, which was the main thing. It was a very memorable experience to say the least. High praise for our tour operator Vikram for dealing with the situation with the injured boy and his family as best as could be done under the circumstances. You've got to be careful in the snow and ice! P.S. Our tour bus had working Wi-Fi which was handy for uploading photos etc.

You can efficiently go around several lakes. There is not enough time if you want to take your time to enjoy the lake, but it is recommended if you plan to visit several times. It is difficult to ask for too much hospitality, but I had no complaints because there was enough care that I needed.
