Such a great experience! The whole idea seemed a bit kitschy initially but our host Yaya mixed in a fair amount of history and culture which kept things interesting. Plus lots sangria! Really enjoyed the cooking part and the paella itself was fabulous. My husband and I both had a lot of fun. Be aware the meeting point was a bit difficult to find, the name GabLab is in smaller letters about 10 feet up, we passed it completely the first try and only located it with a help of a passerby.

This cooking class was absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of our time in Barcelona. Hugo and Nestor were incredible hosts — warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to learn from. Hugo made the entire experience educational and engaging. As we walked through La Boqueria Market, he shared stories and history about the ingredients we were shopping for, the traditions behind them, and how they connect to Spanish and Catalan culture. It made the market visit feel meaningful rather than rushed or touristy. The cooking portion was relaxed, hands-on, and very well organized. A special shoutout to Nestor for going above and beyond: my daughter is allergic to seafood, and they thoughtfully created a separate workspace just for her so she could safely make a chicken paella. Nestor guided and supported her step-by-step, which made her feel included, confident, and cared for — something we truly appreciated. The group dynamic also made the experience even better. There was plenty of time to mingle, get to know the other people attending the class, and enjoy the shared experience together, which added to the fun and warmth of the afternoon. Everything was delicious — the paella, tapas, sangria, and even the almond flour dessert were excellent. The atmosphere was easygoing and fun, and we never felt rushed. If you’re looking for an authentic, inclusive, and well-run cooking experience in Barcelona, this class is absolutely worth your time and money. Highly recommend!
