This was one of the best experiences we had in Beijing. Doing the Hutong food tour at night made it feel really special—the streets had such a great atmosphere, and it felt like we were seeing a completely different side of the city. Our guide, May, was fantastic. She was so friendly and welcoming, and she made the whole evening feel easy and enjoyable. She also knew the area really well and took us to places we would never have found on our own. What we loved most was how local and authentic all the food was. This wasn’t touristy at all—it felt like a true taste of Beijing. We tried around 20 different foods and drinks, including things we never would have thought to try, and everything was delicious. It really pushed us out of our comfort zone in the best possible way. She was also very accommodating of one of us being a vegetarian, which we really appreciated. The whole evening felt relaxed, fun, and really well organised. May made sure we were comfortable the entire time and that we got the most out of the experience. We would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing. It’s such a unique way to experience the city, and May gets five stars from us!

We had such an amazing time on our private Hutong food tour in Beijing, and it was all thanks to our wonderful guide, May. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to from the very start, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. May’s knowledge of the area was excellent. She shared so much interesting information about the Hutongs and the local culture, which really added to the tour and made it much more than just a food experience. The food itself was fantastic. We got to try around 20 different foods and drinks, and everything we tasted was delicious. It was a great way to discover so many new flavours and places that we would never have found on our own. May made sure everything ran smoothly and that we were having a great time throughout. She was thoughtful, organised, and clearly passionate about what she does. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing. It was a highlight of our trip, and May gets five stars from us!

We had an absolutely wonderful tour with Mike. He took us to several local spots that we wouldn’t have found on our own, and everything was delicious. The highlight, however, was the incredible conversation. It felt like spending an evening with a friend - Mike is smart, friendly, funny, and a deep thinker. He was really open with us about life in China and we leaned SO much. It was definitely a highlight of our time in Beijing!

I recently took a Beijing food tour led by our guide, Miko. He did a solid job explaining the history of the streets and surrounding neighborhoods, which added helpful context to the experience. That said, the food itself was underwhelming. If you already have some exposure to Asian cuisine, this tour may leave you wanting a lot more in terms of flavor and authenticity. The standout item for me was the pancake, which was easily the most enjoyable part of the tour. At times, Miko’s explanations felt a bit long-winded, especially when we were ready to move on and actually eat. While the historical insights were informative, the pacing could have been better balanced with the food experience. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this tour if you’re looking for a truly authentic or memorable food-focused experience in Beijing.

Did the private food tour as a solo traveler and it was the best decision ever. I am now the biggest fan of Miko, he went above and beyond to ensure I was having a great time. I had a chance to try 7 different meals and snacks from fast hotpot to soup buns! Miko shared so much about the history and culture of the food, I felt that I learned so many things to share with my family and friends. I highly recommend this tour and Miko!

We told Jimmy we weren’t afraid of trying anything, so he took us to try various delicious dishes, like luzhu. In addition the malatang was a great discovery. For us this was a great experience of Chinese cuisines.
