Our experience on the Beijing Private Hutong Food Walking Tour was nothing short of fantastic! From start to finish, Mike made this one of the best parts of our trip. What really set the tour apart was Mike’s local perspective — he was born and raised in Beijing, and it showed in every story he shared. His knowledge of both Beijing’s food culture and its history was incredibly impressive and added so much depth to the experience. The amount of food we tried was huge — more than enough to fill us up — and every single dish was absolutely delicious. From traditional local snacks to authentic specialties that we never would have found on our own, Mike guided us through an amazing variety of flavors. He explained the proper way to enjoy each dish and shared fascinating cultural and historical tidbits as we walked through the Hutongs. Walking through the hidden alleys with him felt like exploring the city with a good friend who truly loves his hometown. We learned so much about Beijing’s culinary traditions and everyday life, and the food was always top-notch. If you want a true local food experience — with huge portions, unforgettable taste, and expert insights — this tour with Mike is a must-do!

Jimmy was great! This tour is definitely full of local eats - with a wide variety ranging from the known (dumplings) to the adventurous (pig intestine), everything was optional and Jimmy was very accommodating. He was also super knowledgeable about the city, and help orient us on our first night in town.

I was skeptical that this tour would be as amazing as it was because all the reviews were so good. However, Jay was so amazing. He was very attentive to my grandmas diabetic diet restrictions and gave us tidbits of information beyond food as we were walking (which was an unexpected added bonus). I highly recommend coming with an empty stomach to this and prepared to have an amazing evening. I 100% recommend this.

Our guide Miko was great, tailoring the tour to our needs. A good first-day activity in Beijing, he made sure our DiDi app worked, slowed the pace to match our walking speed, and shared history of the dishes and the Houtong area.

This tour was amazing! We walked the streets of a vibrant Hutong and tried local foods specific to Beijing. To try these local foods in non tourist areas was such a treat. Our guide Allen was so helpful and funny, and treated us to so many different dishes. Would highly recommend this tour if you want local food experiences.
