Jardines de Belvedere
The Belvedere complex is an architectural masterpiece of a bygone aristocratic splendor designed to project a sense of earthly harmony. This terrestrial utopia was founded in the first decades of the 18th c. as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, the commander-in-chief of the Austrian army and one of the most successful military commanders in modern European history. Among the most significant buildings of the 18th c., the grandiose palace of the Upper Belvedere is a masterstroke of Baroque architecture while the surrounding formal gardens were inspired by classical antiquity.
Belvedere Museum
Belvedere became one of the first public museums in the world with the intention to make the Habsburgs’ imperial collection accessible to the general public. Today the Belvedere Museum exhibits a world-class compilation of Austrian and international painting from the Middle Ages to the present day, including precious items of the Austrian National Gallery: masterpieces by including some of Gustav Klimt’s most acclaimed paintings: works from his golden period: “The Kiss,” “Judith,” landscapes from the Attersee series and sophisticated portraits of high society ladies.

We really lucked out with our guide. Stephen was so knowledgeable and Informative. His details made the art so much more interesting and alive. I will never see Gustav Klimt's paintings the same way again.

Had a wonderful tour experience with Barbara. She was a wealth of information on Vienna, history and of course art. She helped us understand not just individual paintings, but how they fit into the overall city's history. We also learned the history of the palace and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this tour to bring. meaning to the art. This museum is huge and without a guide I would have just wandered its halls and taken little away with me. Barbara gave us plenty of time for photos and to walk around on our own in each room before she moved us on. The tour ended with a walk around the building and down to the lower house as well.

I was not instructed about where to meet. We went to 3 locations until someone called me and said to come to her green umbrella at the main entrance. That was a waste of time and stressful. All 4 parties on our tour had the same trouble. Asa result we started late. Tell people where to meet! Not difficult.

The visit of the palace and its museum are visits to Vienna. We can see the famous paintings like "The Kiss" by Der Kiss as well as "Bonaparte crossing the Frand-Saint-Bernard" by Jacques-Louis David.

Extensive, informative delve into the art history of the Belvedere collection. Our tour guide Selin was knowledgeable and a great teacher. Of course, the highlight of the visit for us was the Klimt collection, but there really is so much more. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour.
