This is a must-do if you want to experience Bergen like a true "Bergenser"! You will get to experience the Mt. Ulriken cablecar, then the hike starts from Mt. Ulriken. You'll get beautiful views of Bergen and the surrounding sea and mountains. When you arrive at Mt. Fløyen you will get to enjoy the view before you take the Fløibanen funicular down.
The guide takes you safely over the mountains. Along the way, your guide will point out all seven mountains surrounding Bergen and share stories of Norwegian culture, traditions and our landscape.
This trip let's you see all the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen, and walk between the two most famous peaks. You'll also get to experience both the Ulriksbanen (cablecar) and the Fløibanen (funicular). The Bergen Classic hike is more than just a hike, it’s a local tradition in the heart of the mountains.

NOTE BEFORE YOU BOOK: This is a hard tour in terrain, please see the tour On Top of Bergen or Bergen Panorama if you look for a medium of light tour.
Cabins and toilets: note that there are no food offers, heating cabins or toilets on any part of the thike
Equipment needed:Sturdy shoes, windproof jacket and trousers, sunglasses, camera and plenty of food and drink. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes, a light hat and gloves and trekking poles. You can fill your water bottle on Ulriken

What To Expect
Walk across the legendary "Vidden Plateau" with a private guide and experience the hike every Bergenser loves. This unforgettable full-day trek between Mt. Ulriken and Mt. Fløyen takes you high above the city and deep into the heart of Bergen’s mountain landscape. Practical information: Time: Approx. 6-9 hours with breaks. Level: Hard/Experienced (blue category). Hiking distance: 15km. Terrain: Rocky, uneaven and it might be muddy and wet. Total elevation gain: about 300 metres. Meeting Point: Outside VisitBergen tourist information. The hike starts at Mt. Ulriken. This iconic hike starts at Mt. Ulriken and takes you across the iconic "Vidden" plateau to Mt. Fløyen. The hike is quite challenging, with several ups and downs, rocky paths, and potential wet areas. While not technically difficult, it’s a real workout and requires solid fitness and hiking experience. Along the way, your guide will point out all seven mountains surrounding Bergen and share stories of Norwegian nature, local culture, and our deep love for hiking. The views change constantly as you cross the plateau, offering a real taste of mountain wilderness just minutes from the city.

5.00If you want to experience the beautiful scenery near Bergen- Norway Mountain Guides is the way to do it! We booked a Coastal hike/private tour with them and the day far exceeded our expectations! Our guide, Maria, was wonderful. She knew just how to “tailor make” the day for my husband and me. If we wanted to stop and just admire the coast, she allowed us to do just that. We were also very impressed with Frank, the Founder and CEO of Norway Mountain Guides. He has a real passion for his business and we were pleased with his communication prior to, as well as following, our hike. Thank you, Maria and Frank for making our trip one which we will not forget. We highly recommend!

Our guide, Yannis, was an amazing introduction to the world of Norwegian-style hiking and a really nice guy to talk to. He offered us different options to choose from and was attentive to all our needs. You should definitely try this hiking tour — I 100% recommend it!

5.00My son and I had a wonderful hike around the Bergen hills with our guide Tor. With its stunning views, varied terrain and nice mix of uphill and downhill, this felt like the perfect introduction to Bergen's awe-inspiring mountains and stunning views. Tor was brilliant company and taught us so much about the local area. I wish we could have spent another few days hiking some more trails! We would highly recommend these guided walks to visitors wanting to explore Norway and we will definitely be back in touch for more adventures. Thank you Tor!

5.00Absolutely wonderful long hike on the peaks surrounding Bergen with easy access by gondola and funicular. Our guide, Normann, was expert in adjusting to different paces and in sharing the history and culture of Bergen and Norway. Our entire family agreed that this experience was an absolute highlight of our week of travel. We will definitely book with Norway Mountain Guides on our next trip too.

5.00We had a wonderful hike yesterday with Joachim as our guide. We chose the Vidden hike and did a private hike for the two of us , and it was perfect. We were lucky to have perfect weather, and it was beautiful. Joachim was a great guide. He was very personable and interesting, and also knowledgeable about local history and botany. We really appreciated his company and highly recommend this hike!

5.00We had a great day hiking with our guide, Jorgi (I’m sure I spelled that wrong!). The weather wasn’t great and it rained a bit and was foggy so we didn’t have any views, but Jorgi had so much interesting information about Norway and the local plants. We had a great time and it was one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Norway.

5.00It was an amazing hike with a great young guide Thomas - he was very friendly and shared lots of great info about life in Norway and the mountains around Bergen. The hike was an easy one (at our request) but the views were amazing. Thomas met us 10 minutes early at the appointed location and drove us in his (very clean) personal car to the trail head. Booking online was easy. Definitely recommend this company.

5.00Excellent guide with lots of local knowledge ... good challenge and stunning mountains. We set off with the intention of doing all 7 hills round Bergen ... about 35km and about 2800m. Was myself and 21 yr old daughter. Set off about 8am ... we only did 4 of the 7 (about 28km) because daughter's knee was hurting walking down last mountain (and if being totally honest I was knackered going up ... but then I should have prepared / trained better in advance !!) . The last 3 hills are really a hill plus a couple of peaks where don't go right down and up. Nevertheless, despite not finishing was still an excellent challenge and we both had a great day (finished about 5pm). It is not a particularly technical hike but is not easy either. There is a mixture of paths / stones & rocks / woodland / etc with some quite steep sections. Definitely recommended (scenery, challenge, Tor the guide and Norway Mountain Guides the company) ... hope you do the 7 !
