Big Bastard's provides a full service beach experience, with music, games and floaties provided on the beach and supported by dedicated service to your seats. By choosing your beach day with us, you can enjoy a hassle free beach day, knowing you already have secured one of the best areas to enjoy on Great Bay Beach. There are a wide variety of vendors to explore within steps of our beach. The venue is easily accessible from the central water taxi station. Once arrived, your ticket will be verified, and you will be guided to your reserved space on the beach. Your space is yours for the entire day, and you may choose to leave and explore other areas of Philipsburg as you wish. Our team will be happy to take of you for your entire day with us.

What To Expect
Great Bay Beach
We are located at 49 Front Street, Boardwalk side of the Horizon View Hotel. If using a taxi, ask for the central courthouse, walk towards the water and turn left a we are a one minute walk. Once you arrive, our team will verify your booking and direct you to your reserved space on the beach. You receive access to Great Bay beach, including a full day use of beach chairs/umbrellas (assigned on rows 2/3/4) at Big Bastard's Beach Bar + Patio. Enjoy a full service beach, washroom amenities, food & drink menu. Each package will include a complimentary selection of beverages. You are free to come and go as you please, visiting Philipsburg, knowing your chairs will be there for you.

5.00FANTASTIC experience at Big Bastard's Beach Bar for a half-day visit off a cruise. Quick trip over from the cruise port via ferry. Check-in after purchasing online via TripAdvisor was beyond smooth/easy. They had our name top of tongue and a nice spot ready for us to enjoy our beach day! Our decision at Philipsburg beach was made once we learned the owner, Miguel, was Canadian. True to our Cdn nature, he took some time to come see us and ensure we settled in properly and had eveything we needed for the day. Free inflatables for the kids was a great bonus! We had a nice chat that reaffirmed our choice to visit Big Bastard's. Thank you for a FAB day, Miguel!! And special thanks to Serafina and Anthony, who were ever-present, always smiling 😁 HIGHLY recommend for a stress free/lax day in Philipsburg/Saint Maarten 👌

5.00Great as always. Booked well in advance, although it isn't necessary. The staff were attentive, bringing food and drink whenever you raised your hand. Clean and tidy bar, clean toilets and we'll always book here and right on the front row. Thanks for another great time.

5.00Lovely location to sit by the beach. The friendly staff treated us very well. Jeremy was our exceptional host. Later in the day the owner stopped by to chat with each person there, making sure our visits was good. Food was good. We walked down the boardwalk can compared the competition. Highly recommend this location.

5.00This beach experience is very affordable and easy. For those on cruise ships, it is steps from the water taxi or a 20 minute walk. The staff is dellightful and attentive It's nothing fancy - a beach chair with umbrella and some drinks - but worthy of the price of admission.

5.00This was another great day. While there is lots to see in St. Maarten, we opted for the final day of our cruise to be a beach day. You have to take a water taxi to get to the beach, but they run frequently. Big Bastard’s was well staffed by an attentive a friendly crew. The beach itself isn’t very scenic, but we still had a great time.
Highly recommend this as a way to spend the day.
