Journey into the wilds of Alaska on a unique family-friendly treasure hunt aboard an off-road vehicle driven by our trained guide. Set out from Healy for this 3-hour guided adventure and work together searching for hidden clues, seeking out quartz and granite rocks, and exchanging geocache treasures, which results in a take-home souvenir. Learn about local history, flora, and fauna and refuel with a traditional back country meal.
Please let us know when booking if you are driving yourself or if you need to be picked up at your hotel choice. The pick up time at your hotel is the listed booking time. If you are driving yourself to our location plase arrive 15 minutes later. We are located at 1.2 Mile Otto Lake Road, turn onto Otto Lake Raod at Mile 247 off the George Parks Highway.

What To Expect

Enjoy complimentary transport from your Healy hotel to Black Diamond Resort Co, where you’ll embark on a family-friendly backcountry treasure hunt. After a short safety briefing, you'll hop aboard your own Polaris Ranger, outfitted with seat belts, a windshield and cover. It’s similar to a small open-air Jeep but sports the exciting flair of an ATV. Then, head out into the wilds of Alaska with your professional guide. Navigate the back country trails, searching for hidden secrets, granite rocks, and additional clues that bring you closer and closer to finding your treasure: a rustic pavilion in the woods where a camp-style meal awaits. Traverse old mining paths that spill out onto the Dry Creek River Bed, stop on a whim to take in the surrounding scenery, or walk along the tundra and travel up the side of Black Diamond Peak for spectacular views of the Healy Valley — all the while working together to strategize and plan your next moves.
Your guide also fills you in on local history, culture, flora, and fauna throughout. Soon, it’s time to reap the benefits of your treasure hunt: a delicious and hearty meal. Morning tours include a lumberjack breakfast with fresh-baked biscuits and gravy, reindeer sausage, flapjacks and more, while afternoon and evening tours feature mouthwatering ribs, steak, chicken and even fresh-caught Alaska salmon. Juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and adult beverages are also available. Your tour concludes with hotel drop-off.

5.00WE had wonderful time with Lexi & Zoe and Spike & Rex. They were lots of fun with information, stories and good humor. Wonder veiw of Denlia park and a delicious dinner to top it off.
Don’t be afraid to get on an ATV and Healy, Alaska and drive through the Denali national park. Thank you, David. Eh!

5.00I was very skeptical on this ATV tour because I had never ridden on an ATV and didn’t know whether I could do it or not. David, our driver, was both knowledgeable and careful and assisted me every time I got on or off the ATV. He helped me buckle up, even. David explained everything along the way and alleviated all my fears and had me laughing in no time at all. It was wondrous being literally on the ground for this whole experience. He made sure we had a good dinner and did everything he could to bring knowledge and explanations to each section. The treasure hunt was fun and funny. I have my little treasures in my purse that I got that evening. It had been a long day because we had just gotten off an eight hour plane ride the night before. David was so good to explain every kind of flora and fauna to us as we went through the park. The penultimate experience was seeing a mother and baby moose walking through the forest. We got close enough to take excellent pictures! He stayed as long as we wanted in that area so I could enjoy the experience. He really took his time and a good job and had a good, caring attitude. I highly recommend this tour experience!

5.00This is a great trip for families with younger children who can't do the other ATV tours. We really enjoyed our trip and our guide Treasure (no pun intended) was excellent, especially with our seven year old daughter. I would recommend the following: 1) be prepared to get dirty and possibly wet 2) bring a camera 3) bring a healthy appetite Thanks to Black Diamond and Treasure for a great outing.

5.00Jonathan was a fantastic tour guide! We had booked the side by side tour the day before and when we showed up there was a small mix up and we were placed in the wrong group. The staff instantly fixed it and made it right, and we even ended up getting a private tour! My best friend and I brought my two young kids (ages 5 & 7), and they had an absolute blast! The trails were so much fun and we felt like it was the perfect amount of time being out on the trails. The dinner that was included was delicious and such a great variety of things to eat/try! All staff were super kind and fun to chat with, highly recommend this company and group!

5.00Great experience for a family. Ross took us on a tour of the area and gave us lots of information about the geography and history of the Healy Valley. The kids were all smiles as we whipped through the back country and kicked up some dirt and mud in the process. The food was delicious and there was more than enough to fill our bellies. The little treasure hunt at the end was perfect way for our kids to end their day.
