Today we went on a truffle hunting tour with our super friendly guide George. First we went to an old water mill outside of Budapest situated in the woods. We were welcomed by the owner with a glass of Hungarian “champagne. After that we went into the surrounding woods with George and the truffle hunter and his dog. In half an hour the dog found eleven truffles. Returned to the windmill George prepared amazing bites with foie gras and freshly shaved black truffle and some more of the nice wine. Then we went to a nearby village, where we met a local wine maker and we had a lovely wine tasting. A few white wines (sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay ), a lovely rose and we ended with a beautiful Pinot noir and a special cuvée. A great experience also because of the clear explanation of the owner of the winery and the wines he let us taste. We ended up in a small local restaurant nearby, where we had a wonderful stew and wine. After that George took us back to Budapest in the afternoon after a wonderful day and experience. We can highly recommend this trip. .

George picked us up in Budapest in a minibus and taken into the Hungarian countryside. We were made comfortable with water and snacks if needed and provided with fascinating commentary about truffles and the wine in Hungary. George and his team are truly passionate about their craft as was shown when we arrived at a beautiful 17th century mill and the owner, Stephen, showed us around. The mill and its grounds were beautiful. Inside we were treated to a lovely glass of sparkling wine. Then we met Tommy with his 2 gorgeous dogs and went truffle hunting! The dogs were so clever and we were lucky that they sniffed out so many truffles. We were sad to say goodbye to them! Back in the mill, George provided us with a selection of his family's truffle butter and foi gras on bread, with truffle shavings, accompanied with more glasses of sparkling wine It was truly delicious. Then we were driven to a village and introduced to Sandra who runs her family vineyard. We loved seeing the original wine press and visiting the underground cave to see the casks of wine. We tasted a few wines and were very impressed with the variety and their taste. Sandra was extremely interesting describing the wines and her family's history. The day continued with a visit to a beautiful Hungarian home where we had a local dish and the host provided us with more information on wines and tasting. The whole day was absolutely perfect and I recommend it highly. George looks after you so well, he and his team are dedicated to providing their guests with a unique and authentic experience. We loved the experience so much and cannot wait to to return to Hungary to repeat it! Thankyou George and team!

Honestly one of the most wholesome and memorable local experiences I’ve ever done. Huge thanks to George and all the locals who gave us a real taste of their life and produce. We met easily in Budapest, then drove to an old mill where a father-son team proudly showed us around and poured their sparkling. With glasses in hand, we wandered into the nearby woods for a truffle hunt, watching the dogs work and sharing the excitement each time a truffle was found. George and the team added great history and fun facts along the way. Afterward, we returned to the mill for George’s family foie gras loaded with local truffles—he’s definitely not shy with them—and, of course, more sparkling. We didn’t want to leave! The day continued in Etyek with wine tasting at a local vineyard and a hearty, much-needed Hungarian lunch. Truly can’t fault this day trip: genuine people, superb food and wine, and George’s passion ties it all together. Highly recommend.

Booked this with my best friend (two girls) and it was such a cool journey from start to finish. The sparkling welcome got a little “dangerous” (3–4 glasses… oops 😂) and the truffle-hunting demo was honestly fascinating. I’d never seen it in person. We followed with homemade foie gras, so good with more champagne of course.. Then headed to a local presshouse for 3-5 wines presented by the winemaker, we visited the their cellar as well, beautiful! and wrapped up with a traditional lunch and more wine. About 6 hours total, great weather, super authentic places, and friendly locals. George (György) was an exceptional guide, so chill, always checking in (“need more wine?”). If you want a premium Hungarian experience with a real local, he’s the one.

Honestly such a great experience! The whole truffle hunt was super chill and felt really authentic — like you’re getting a real taste of local life in Budapest, not just some tourist thing. Watching the dog work with the hunter was actually really fun and kinda mesmerizing. And that black truffle foie gras… wow. Easily one of the best flavors I’ve ever had. The whole vibe was laid-back, friendly, and just good fun — would 100% recommend if you want to do something unique while you’re in town. George was super friendly, and made sure I was enjoying my time. Thank you for making this a worthwhile experience!

Booked this last minute and it was the highlight of my trip. Truffle dog in action, champagne flowing, and the foie gras was next-level. We tried several wines at a family spot and finished with a legit Hungarian lunch. George kept everything relaxed and fun the whole time.
