Veterans Memorial Museum
You’ll be fascinated and thoroughly humbled by this memorial to our veterans. The vast array of exhibits causes reflection and creates an intense curiosity about the personal experiences of the men and women who lived in these uniforms, fired these weapons, lived as a POW, wrote these letters home, wore these medals, played this battlefield organ, flew the planes, rode the motorcycles, and served our country so well. The Veterans Memorial Museum is composed of ten great halls covering the wars and conflicts fought during the 20th Century. Circulation and viewing starts in the World War I Hall, progressing through World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and more. Each hall features dramatic and thought provoking exhibits. Sculpture, murals, historical artifacts, objects d’ art, and thousands of authentic memorabilia honor all branches of the service, major battlefronts, campaigns, industrial defense, and more. The names of the men and women killed in action in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, and recent conflicts of the 20th Century are displayed on the walls of the halls. Many of the exhibits have been compiled with the help of veterans and their families and include these veterans’ personal stories. From the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Persian Gulf, from the memories of decorated combat veterans to the men and women who served on the home front, every aspect of our nations’ valiant fight for freedom has been honored. The museum is designed to serve as an educational center and artistic memorial, enduring for centuries to come, educating generations about these global clashes that defeated totalitarianism. This place touched my heart. It is not about war, it’s about the people. We were limited on time, but next time in Branson, I’m going to make the time. Every American needs to go to this museum, it tells a story of the people, the heroes, that fought for all of us.

Today we toured the Veterans Memorial Museum in Branson, Missouri, and it was truly a wonderful and honoring experience. The exhibits took us on a journey through history, from World War I through Afghanistan and the Iraq War, and paid heartfelt tribute to the men and women who served. We were especially moved by the memorial to the World War II and Vietnam soldiers who gave their lives protecting ours. The displays included uniforms and artifacts from every branch of the military—soldiers, nurses, airmen, and even prisoners of war—making it a deeply personal reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom. This museum is a powerful and humbling experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very lengthy museum, but it shows everyone who served for this country of America and the outfits they show are absolutely INSANE. I was so impressed when they had an outfit from every decade of the war and for every role from Military Private to Military General.

There were so many unique items, like a hate belt. Nazis cut off buttons from people they killed and sewed them onto belts

Not out of conscious effort, but my husband and I have ended up visiting umpteen battlefields, forts, battleships, war cemeteries and homes of various historical generals and leaders on our travels. From Pearl Harbor to Fort Monroe, Little Bighorn to Fort De Soto and everywhere in between, we've been there. Like many Americans I've had grandparents, aunts, uncles, and extended family going back every generation that we've traced that have served in US wars going back to the Revolutionary War. I had to speed through some rooms to get to a spot where I was alone so I could catch my breath to stop the tears welling in my eyes. I'm extremely critical of the US Military Industrial Complex and it makes me so angry and sad to see all the names of the people who died and their families ripped apart for the benefit of bankers, military contractors and politicians. There are a lot of neat artifacts in here going back to WWI. My favorite artifact was the vest for a carrier pigeon. If you're interested in politics or history or the military, this is a nice museum to stop at as an adult. I wouldn't bring small children here because the subject matter is too heavy.
