What To Expect
Join us on this tour if you're looking for authentic, home-cooked and street Egyptian food in two different neighborhoods in Cairo. The first area is West Elbalad,downtown Cairo where will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks. A sense of home-cooked food prepared like Egyptian grandmothers used to cook everyday is so nice. The second area is the iconic of the local Cairo where you can explorer Cairo off beaten pavement, the real lives of people, tuk tuks and the local markets. A sandwich of taameya like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences between locals! 6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food. There is no waste food on our journey, so if you can't finish your portion, vou can take the leftovers or leave it simply to any person in need on the streets. Can't wait and YALLA BINA!

5.00We were warmly greeted by our hosts, Ahmed and Shorouk and their two daughters, and immediately felt welcomed and appreciated. Our tour began at a local juice bar and proceeded to six additional stops, each one featuring authentic and exciting Egyptian dishes. From small (tiny, really) restaurants to street food stands, and finally ending at a sweets shop/bakery, every stop was fantastic, educational and filling! The entire evening felt like a visit with family members, complete with excellent explanations of the food’s history and the connections with Egyptian culture. Highly recommended!!!

5.00Very delicious and diverse dishes to try. Great insights into the culture and cuisine of Egypt. Ahmed answered all our questions and gave us tips for the further journey. There was definitely more food than we could ever eat in our group. Maybe you could order a little less here. On the whole, however, a great experience, which we can only recommend!

5.00Ahmed was a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide who provided us with an introduction to the history and culture of Egypt as well as its food. in addition to sampling food typically served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the tour also included a juice bar, street food and dessert at a bakery. Our tour lasted about three and a half hours and Ahmed even stayed with us until our Uber ride arrived to take us back to our hotel. Would recommend with out reservation. Best for your first night in Cairo.
Ahmed is welcoming, knowledgeable, funny, and takes you to truly authentic local family restaurants. Highest rating!!

5.00At each stop, of which there are many, Ahmed described how the food we ate fits into the historic and daily life of Muslim Egyptians. We have taken food tours in many different countries, and this rates among the very best. Four hours flew by and we sampled many different dishes at each stop. Pace yourself or you won’t have room for dessert at the end!

5.00My wife and I wanted to get a glimpse of daily Egyptian food and grocery shopping and the tour with Ahmed delivered this and so much more. We visited places in the oldest neighborhood of Cairo that represented generation old family eateries serving Egyptian staple foods. The markets and food stalls were amazing, filled with all the spices, herbs, veggies and fruits in preparation of Ramadan. Ahmed was an absolute resource in all things large and small. The philosophy behind the tours that he and his wife Shorouk have set up, is in the best tradition of community engagement. A wonderful and absolutely recommended experience.

5.00This is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on rated in my top five experiences of travelling overseas Ahmed is kind and knowledgeable and provide you with so much more information than just about the food. The tour lasted 3 1/2 hours and it extremely good value for money and so much fun. I would recommend booking this tour before you book any trips to The pyramids it was that good
