What To Expect
Join us on this tour if you're looking for authentic, home-cooked and street Egyptian food in two different neighborhoods in Cairo. The first area is West Elbalad,downtown Cairo where will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks. A sense of home-cooked food prepared like Egyptian grandmothers used to cook everyday is so nice. The second area is the iconic of the local Cairo where you can explorer Cairo off beaten pavement, the real lives of people, tuk tuks and the local markets. A sandwich of taameya like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences between locals! 6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food. There is no waste food on our journey, so if you can't finish your portion, vou can take the leftovers or leave it simply to any person in need on the streets. Can't wait and YALLA BINA!

5.00We had a great food tour with Ahmed. He was passionate about teaching the group about Cairo, Egypt and the food. Eat stop was great and exposed us to different aspects of the food scene. We have done food tours in many countries and this ranks among our favorites!

5.00Our guide Ahmed was super nice, had a lot of information about life in Cairo and of course about food. First we went to a juice bar and tried 2 juices. Afterwards we went to 3 local restaurants where we ate different local dishes, and finally we had sweet pastries in a bakery. Tip: make sure to arrive with great hunger, because there is a lot to eat, not just small tasting dishes, and everything was really extremely delicious. 2 people had allergies, even Ahmed took that into consideration and organized an alternative depending on the court. The tour is also suitable for vegetarians. We were a small group of 6 people and it was very fun, an all-round successful evening. The tour is fully recommended, you should definitely have gone along with it.

5.00I had an absolutely incredible time on this food tour in Cairo. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and authentic, with a fantastic variety of local dishes that I probably would never have discovered on my own. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and showcased the true flavors of the city. 🍽️🇪🇬 What really made the experience special was our tour guide, Ahmed— extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Egyptian culture and cuisine. He shared fascinating history, local insights, and stories that made each bite even more meaningful. 🏺✨ The waiters and staff at each location were also warm, welcoming, and attentive, which added to the overall experience. You can truly feel the hospitality everywhere you go. 😊 If you’re visiting Cairo and want to experience authentic food while learning about the culture, I highly recommend this tour. It was one of the highlights of my trip and something I will remember for a long time! Absolutely worth it — come hungry!!

5.00I had a wonderful experience with Ahmed on the food tour. His passion for Egypt, Cairo, and Egyptian cuisine is so obvious and it made the whole experience very engaging. Alongside the food he toured us around areas of Cairo I certainly would not have seen without his insight, and this allowed me to go back the next night to explore further. Most importantly though the food was amazing! Laziz! Each stop was portioned just right, and so I felt fed throughout whilst comfortably being able to everything on offer. Lastly, any untouched leftovers were donated to those in need. I would thoroughly recommend if you’re in Cairo and want to experience the culinary delights that the city has to offer!

5.00Ahmed took us on a great 3 1/2 hour food tour - no rush and lots of food in old Cairo. 4 of us visited very authentic local restaurants - nothing fancy but exactly what the locals would eat. Ahmed has a real passion for meeting and talking to foreigners about his Egyptian food and culture. If you want a very personal tour this is the one. He and his wife run their own small tours and can accommodate any needs. 1 couple last night was in the coffee business so he added a special stop at an Egyptian coffee roaster so we could all buy local coffee beans.

5.00This was an unexpected highlight of our 5 days in Cairo. We wanted to experience things through the eyes of local people & this tour was perfect. Ahmed, Sharouk & family were the perfect hosts. We were over during Ramadan so our tour was an education on whats eaten and drunk during the period, really interesting and helped give us an understanding of what was going on around us. We were taken to some amazing eateries (which we wouldnt have found ourselves) given information on the dishes as well as the culture. Both Ahmed & Sharouk were very warm hosts giving just the right amount of information to keep things interesting but never overwhelming. They and their kids were very good company. The food was delicious and plentyful with an left over going to those in need. We left the evening nicely stuffed & full of happiness for our experience. Highly recommend.

5.00We've done dozens of walking/food tours all over the world and this was unequivocally the best. Ahmed was incredibly passionate about showing us his perspective of Cairo and Egypt. We had wonderful food at truly local places that we would have never found otherwise, while learning a ton about modern Egyptian life and culture. It was easily the most authentic experience we had in Egypt. We would highly recommend!

5.00It was our first day in Egypt and we wanted a non- tourist, local view of Cairo. Shorouk did a wonderful job introducing us to Egyptian street food in the downtown core. My kids and I felt really comfortable and welcomed in all the stops and around the city. The food was delicious from breakfast food to learning about tahini production and dessert! Its a wonderful and delicious way to experience Egyptian culture.

5.00We had a wonderful time doing the food tour with Ahmed and his family our first night in Egypt. We visited 5 (6?) different food vendors sampling different local specialties. Ahmed was a wonderful host educating us on the culture of Egypt and about Ramadan . He communicated with us via WhatsApp before our arrival and made us feel like we were dining with family we didn’t know we had in Cairo. We were 2 couples plus another couple and single traveler, we enjoyed the small group experience. He sent us home with a box of dates and Ramadan keychains as reminders of our great dining experience. We are grateful for their hospitality and highly recommend the tour. The price was much less than other food tours we looked at and we couldn’t be more satisfied.
