Herbert Lake
Discover the serene beauty of Herbert Lake, a hidden gem along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. Surrounded by towering peaks and dense forest, this tranquil alpine lake offers breathtaking views and perfect mirror-like reflections of the Canadian Rockies—ideal for photography and peaceful nature moments. Enjoy a short stop (approx. 15–20 minutes) where you can take a leisurely walk along the shoreline, soak in the quiet atmosphere, and learn interesting facts about the area's natural and geological significance from your guide. Less crowded than Banff’s major lakes, Herbert Lake provides a more intimate and authentic connection to the park's stunning landscape. It's especially captivating in the morning when the water is calm and the reflections are at their best. A peaceful, picture-perfect highlight of your journey through the Rockies.
Crowfoot Glacier
Marvel at the majestic Crowfoot Glacier, perched high above Bow Lake along the scenic Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. Once shaped like a three-toed crow’s foot, this glacier is a striking example of nature’s power and the effects of climate change. During this short scenic stop, your guide will share fascinating insights into the glacier’s formation, its ongoing retreat, and its significance to the region’s ecosystem. From the roadside viewpoint, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the glacier, surrounding cliffs, and turquoise Bow Lake below—an ideal photo opportunity. This stop offers a unique chance to witness an iconic glacier in a spectacular mountain setting without the need for a strenuous hike. A quick yet memorable highlight of your Rockies adventure.

It as great opportunity to see multiple sites on one visit. Our driver was knowledgeable about all the places that we went to, and very courteous when describing all the stop and wait times.

Daler was our guide and was very helpful throughout the entire trip. Remember to book the glacier tour and sky walk separately for 2:30pm.

The guide we had was great. His name is Daler. He was always there to answer our questions. As for the tour, we left Calgary at 7:30 a.m. The only problem is communication before departure. I would receive emails telling me that the starting point would be at Sheraton and then at Delta and even another email telling me that the pickup would be at Sheraton and the departure at Delta. And this in the same email . So the day before I left, I called Viator and the person at the end of the phone told me to go to Delta. I go there and at 7:30 am I receive a call from the guide telling me that he is at the Sheraton and that he comes to pick us up. Wow! Viator should improve their communication with the customer. As for the ride, in general. Wow. But don’t forget that this tour doesn’t include Skywalk and Ice Explorer. You must buy your tickets on site or in advance on the internet. I had bought them in advance and I could access them. But people who were in the tour with me didn’t have access to the Ice Explorer because there was no room left. So plan to buy your tickets in advance! By the way, it’s a spectacular experience and you’ll have another guide who drives the Ice Explorer named Rocko. Real professionalism. He tells the story of glacier life and has a great sense of humor.

This is a very long day but worth every minute of it for sure. Our driver Harsh took us to all of the right places and made sure we knew exactly where and when we needed to be places. The views of Herbert, Bow, Waterfowl and Peyto Lakes were amazing. There is a nice coffee break early and the food at the Icefields Centre is good so you have plenty of food and drinks.

Full day trip that was well worth the long journey. Our guide was Jas who had previously taken us on the Lake Louise trip so we immediately knew we were in good hands. Our first stop was crowfoot glacier and our second stop was just a few meters up the road at Bow lake which still offers excellent views of the glacier so imo the first stop could be omitted. Next stop was peyto lake which was well worth the steep climb to the viewing point. After lunch we went to the Athabasca glacier - the link I had been sent told me to book the skywalk for 2.30 (this needs to be booked and paid for separately) but the email didn’t mention booking the glacier explorer. This caused great confusion when we tried to add in the extra cost of the explorer trip and meant we missed the 2.30 slot. It was a lot of extra work for cashier at Icefield Adventures to refund my initial booking then book the combined Explorer/skywalk and meant we were delayed until 3:00pm. Jas very kindly delayed the trip home to allow all of us to complete the full experience. It’s an excellent trip made even better by the fact we saw a black bear by the road on our way back 🐻
