What To Expect
Bến Bạch Dằng
Your adventure begins with a departure by speedboat from Ho Chi Minh City at 8:30 AM, cruising along the picturesque Saigon River towards Can Gio. Enjoy the stunning river scenery and observe local fishermen's activities.
Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve
At 9:45 AM, arrive at the Bat Sanctuary where you'll learn about various bat species and the mangrove ecosystem. Enjoy a peaceful rowing boat tour through the mangrove forest, taking in the serene natural landscapes. At 10:00 AM, transfer to the “Vàm Sát” Ecotourism Center. Visit the Bird Sanctuary, home to over 20,000 birds from 26 different species, including the rare Painted Stork, Pelican, and Black-faced Spoonbill (depending on the season). Discover the “Hoa Cà” Crocodile Reserve, learn about the crocodile egg incubation process, and participate in the thrilling "Crocodile Fishing" activity. Interact with friendly long-tailed macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Climb the 26-meter-high “Tang Bồng” Tower for a panoramic view of the entire mangrove biosphere reserve. At 12:30 PM, savor a delicious local specialty lunch. After lunch, take a leisurely walk through the forest trail and challenge yourself on the suspension bridge.

5.00I travelled from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh and heard there was such a travel route, so I took part in the event. It was a pleasure to take a tour of the Koo Chi Tunnel under Jack's guide, which took me through tunnel after tunnel to learn about the war. Jack's guide was patient and it was a very meaningful trip.

A great speedboat trip to explore the mangroves

5.00When I booked this day tour it was a bit of a punt because the trip had no reviews (although TNK Travel had loads of positive feedback). And I'm so glad I did because it is a new tour and it was great. Although we enjoyed seeing long tailed monkeys at close range, and feeding the salt-water crocodiles at the ecotourism centre (which is a bit tired), these wouldn't have been worth a long coach trip. Making the trip from the city centre by speedboat however was brilliant, and we absolutely loved being on the river for a few hours, seeing the city from the water and venturing into the smaller waterways. We then had a 20 minute trip into the thick of the jungle, a tranquil ride in a small hand-paddled craft - the giant mangrove root environment was beautiful and we saw a colony of big bats in the tree tops. There were no other tourists so it felt very special. The lunch at the ecotourism centre was huge and delicious, and we climbed the tower for the 360 view of the area. Our tour guide Jason spoke excellent English and was friendly and interesting. Highly recommended.
