I travelled by myself to Margaree and did a “Mini Cabot Trail Tour” with the “Sunset Option”. This tour truly blew my mind and went above and beyond what I could have guessed or requested from the experience. I previously thought the Tour would entail us driving on the main Cabot Trail road and hearing some general history about the area. What I got to experience was a true adventure on and off the main road, while hearing unique stories from Mac who has deep roots in the community and was able to tell me stories you wouldn’t be able to hear elsewhere. I got to see so many hidden gems in the area which I would not have been able to orchestrate myself. Mac is so kind, friendly and easy to talk to, that it made the Tour feel like driving with an old friend. The vehicle was so comfortable and clean which made the journey even more enjoyable. There is not enough good things I can say about my experience. I look forward to getting to experience his other Tours in the future when I return to the island.

Had a great tour with Mac and the red Jeep. Loved the fact that Mac is a local and was able to share some of the local history of the area and some special secrets. Also loved stopping by the farm and giving the horses an apple! Mac was a safe driver and even though we were driving along the side of the highlands, I never felt like I was going to fall into the abyss. lol. Seriously he took us to many great views both inside and outside of the park. Take his tour if you are in the area, you won't regret it!

We booked the 4 hour Jeep tour on July 31/2025 with our guide Lloyd who was so knowledgeable about Cape Breton and the places he took us. Wow some of the most amazing views we’ve ever seen. Thank you so much

My teenage son and I booked the "Adventure Seeker" and it was perfect! I have a touch of nerves from heights and my son has down syndrome. We asked for muddy puddles and we got LOTS, plus amazing views from multiple spots in the Margaree Valley. Views that I would never have been able to get to otherwise. No problem with my nerves from the trails Mac chose. I only took one photo, at the beginning of the adventure, because I totally forgot about my phone for the rest of the tour!

Mac is great. Very knowledgeable about the area but more importantly fun. He knows his stuff. Not only did we get some interesting history, but we also stopped to go swimming next to a bridge. It was beautiful. I highly recommend getting off the beaten path with Cape Breton Backcountry Adventures. It's different and just enough adrenalin to make you feel like you did something really cool.

My fiance got me this as a birthday gift (We are both new to the area) and we didn't really know what to expect. I am super happy that we ended up doing it, as we had an amazing time. First, Mac is an absolute professional. Having spent years giving tours out west, not only does he have a wealth of knowledge to draw on, but also the necessary skills to keep you safe in the event of an emergency. In addition, his personal connection to the area makes him a great storyteller, and a very captivating tour guide. We we're one of the first couples to test the tour out in the winter, and it did not disappoint. Touring around the Valley, Mac took us to some beautiful ocean views, mountains, and other look offs not well known / or generally accessible to the public. While we couldn't enjoy swimming, Mac was prepared and we ended up snow shoeing on a mountain trail, which looked off a beautiful view of the valley. All in all I would recommend this tour to anyone- young/ old couples, families with kids, etc. If communicated in advance, Mac will do his best to tailor the tour to fit your interests (Weather you want an adventure, see wildlife, or just a casual day). We will definitely be coming back, and hope to experience all the different tours that Cape Breton Backcounrty has to offer.
