Cape Coast Castle
The Cape Coast Castle is one of the biggest castles still standing in Ghana today which was constructed by European forces, On a portion of the Gold Coast that subsequently came to be known as the Cape Coast, it all started as a Portuguese trade lodge built in 1555. The Swedish Africa Company built a permanent wooden stronghold in 1653 to facilitate the trading of gold and lumber after Sweden conquered the Cape Coast. The regional office of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board is located there, and it is currently a historical museum with a gift shop selling Ghanaian arts and crafts.
Elmina Castle
So Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine) was the name given to Elmina Castle by the Portuguese in 1482 when they erected it in Elmina, Ghana (formerly the Gold Coast). Elmina and Elmina Castle is the oldest European structure still standing below the Sahara because it was the first trading post ever constructed on the Gulf of Guinea. It was initially founded as a trading colony but eventually developed into one of the most significant sites along the path of the Atlantic slave trade. A significant portion of Werner Herzog's 1987 drama film "Cobra Verde" was filmed at Elmina Castle, which is now a well-known historical landmark. It serves as a stark reminder of the history of the slave trade and is a very sought-after destination for African American travelers hoping to connect with their heritage.

Mr. T is a deeply knowledgeable and compassionate guide. The tour of the castles was transformative. Kakum was a beautiful way to decompress and connect with nature after the emotional weight of experiencing the nightmare history of the slave trade. The van trip to get there on the Accra-Cape Coast Road, however was terrible. The 4-star rating is not for this tour company, but for the mismanagement of the road project, which has ruined the livelihoods of the people living along it and was one of the worst travel experiences ever. Tour companies have no choice but to use the road to get from Accra to Cape Coast. Tourists should refuse to travel on this road until it is fixed.

I had a great experience. Our driver Tomas was knowledgeable and had a great positive energy. They also had the lowest price for this tour that I could find.

The Team communicated sufficiently before the trip on booking and were responsive to questions. The guide was friendly and lively. He was knowledgeable as well as planned ahead for our meals, shortening our wait time for lunch. I was also lucky to find a really fun group on the tour. The trip is 5hrs long each way, which is a brutal drive, I would recommend that they provide more than one bottle of water. The experience is intense and Kakum Forest is a great way to decompress the emotions of the castle tours I however highly recommend these guys for your Cape Coast tours, in Ghana

Had a really meaningful day at Cape Coast. The admission was reasonable and we spent a few hours exploring. The atmosphere at the Cape Coast Castle was very powerful, and it wasn’t overly crowded which made it easier to take it all in. The staff were professional and informative, and Thompson made the whole experience smooth and engaging. Best for anyone interested in history and culture.

Really enjoyed this tour, everything was well organised and our guide Thompson was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. Visiting the Cape Coast Castle was powerful, and the canopy walk at Kakum National Park was a lot of fun. Definitely worth it!

Our day trip to Cape Coast was a fantastic experience. The tours of the castles at Cape Coast are very shocking but filled with important history. The canopy walk at Kakum was absolutely stunning. Our guide, Emmanuel was very patient and allowed us to wait for the rain to pass, so we were able to do the canopy walk. The only downside is the long drive to Cape Coast with ongoing construction. Overall Expedition Go was a very professional company with easy pick up and drop off, and we would highly recommend them!

The tour to the Cape Coast, Elmina Castle, and Kakum Park, and the entire experience was incredibly well-organized. Our guides were more than just experts; they were a fun bunch to hang out with all day. They didn't just rattle off facts—they really explained the history of the sites and even taught us some local words, which made the day feel much more personal.
