The only Carrara marble tour that allows you to get in a real cave.
Nice to meet you!
We are drivers and tour leaders... we would like to show you an hidden gem of Tuscany!
I will pick you up with my professional van from the area of Lucca or Pisa and I will bring you up on the mountain of Carrara.
We will reach the cave and we will jump in a 4x4 Jeep that can drive us inside.
A professional tour guide will explain you everything about the story of this legendary place: not only how they work and they extract the marble, but also how they are producing a special wine or how to recognize a real Carrara marble from a fake one.
At the end of tour, we will get out from the cave and I will drive you up in the little village of Colonnata: a very small and authentic place famous for a very tasty kind of salami... "lardo di colonnata" !
I can bring you in the best food shop to buy a piece of lard or try to book a local restaurant for a tasting!

An excursion of a lifetime! Our new friend, Thomaso, our driver and guide, was informational and engaging! Everything from the start was seamless. The drive over seemed to take very little time because he engaged with all of the passengers on the tour. Once we arrived at Carrara, we took a 4 wheel drive into the cave. At that point Francesca , one of the members of the family who mine the marble, gave an amazing discussion of the process required to extract huge blocks of marble from the only internal mines in Carrara. After the tour we drove up to the city of Colonnada. We enjoyed a fun luncheon with lardo, meats, wine and bread. A fantastic day that we all highly recommend.

This tour was fabulous. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to understand. The site itself, the history, and the techniques used I'll be talking about for a long time.

Truly a one of a kind experience. The cave tour was amazing as you could see everything they do and you are surrounded by marble. Thomaso provided an informative and fun filled van ride. We loved our lunch at a small village restaurant. It was an amazing day.

It would be impossible to have had a better experience on our tour of the Carrera marble Quarry. Tomaso could not have been more knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. We learned a lot about the quarry, the area and even his insights into Italy itself. He then took us to a small village called Colonata where we had a wonderful lunch of Lardo and other meats, cheeses and pasta. He took his time with us, didn’t hurry and even stopped into a special bakery on the way back to Lucca. An absolutely fantastic day and one that we would absolutely recommend.

Rafaelle was the perfect guide on this tour, sharing insightful and informative commentary about the surroundings, history and culture of the Tuscany region. The small group (6 of us) was a great size, although we did form a larger group inside the amazing Carrara marble cave which was led by an employee of the marble quarry (the sensational Sonia). Great to learn about the marble quarry process in general and to visit this quarry that only extracts marble for artwork purposes. We also visited the village of Colonnata and tried their famous lardo di colonnata. Rafaelle was engaging, professional and an overall nice guy. Thanks for the personal recommendations back in Lucca. Grazie mille 🙏
