  • Once in a life time day in Casablanca!

From the moment Mohamed picked up at the hotel till drop off, couldn’t have asked for anything more. The one hour drive was full of chatter about Morocco, Rabat and Casablanca. We spent the first part of the tour with a memorable tour of the Hassan II Mosque. Nothing in any of our previous vacations compared the beauty of this sacred place, the details of every part of the structure were awe inspiring. We ventured off to the old part of the city and were treated to authentic Almond bakery and many fresh products for our pit stop at a side walk cafe. The fish market followed, nothing like we had seen before, with every imaginable type of ocean fish and crustacean. With our selection, we headed outside to the cafes/restaurants where they prepared our food, way too much for our small group, complimented by salads and refreshments. Thankfully we took a stroll through more of the old town of “Casa’ just in time to rest at a lovely cafe for tea and dessert. We all made room for a sampling of the local fare. I know this is wordy, but I truly can’t say enough about the trip, and Mohamed who shared his personal life and experience living in Casa and Rabat and what the culture truly is like. Thank you for such a great day. Cheers Heather & Bob

A great experience and Muhammad, our tour guide, was most friendly and informative. We had a great day out from Rabat to Casablanca viewing the bazaar for local olive centre and pastries.

We had the time of our lives! My husband and I went on a private 8 day tour across Morocco with Mohammed and Ahmad. It was fabulous! We got to see and taste Moroccan food and life. We couldn't not have asked for a better guide, very knowledgeable, out going and great company. Ahmad was hilarious and knowledgeable and just fun to be around! I would highly recommend Moroccan Food Tours if you want to experience Morocco at its finest. Mohammed took us to local restaurants and cafes. If you go visit the beautiful county of Morocco you would be missing out if you don't travel with Morocco Food Tours.

10/10 would recommend for ANYONE visiting Casablanca. Mohamed single handedly changed our view of Casablanca in a single day and absolutely expanded our entire view on Morocco. My wife and I stayed 5 days in Casablanca. In our first three days, we thought we saw all of Casablanca and that we had overstayed our time there. On day 4 we had a food tour booked with Mohamed. Mohamed took us through the nooks and crannies of Casablanca and showed us the REAL Casablanca and it was lovely. I'd like to start by saying that Mohamed is an ansolute gem of a human being. He's fun, warm, and very knowledgeable. Mohamed spoke multiple languages which was a huge plus for us. He knew the area intimately. Also, he was able to answer every question we had about the area. I asked him questions about the culture, the food, the people, everything and Mohamed delivered. In addition, Mohamed was just a wonderful person to spend time with. He is engaging and keeps the conversation flowing with his anecdotes and stories. Mohamed has won a Nat Geo award, which was awesome. Also, if you've seen Luke Martin's youtube video on Casablanca, Mohamed is the guy that gave him a tour! this was really cool. I didn't realize this until we were already well on our tour. Now, in regards to the food. Mohamed knew his stuff. He first took us on a walk through the neighborhood, explaining everything. He knew all the local history and landmarks. He explained it all thoroughly. He walked us through Pigeon Square and explained the history of the local administrative buildings and Opera House. Then we went to a local alleyway cafe and had smoothies. This little gem was tucked away and we would've never found it on our own. We sat in the shade and had our drinks over some excellent conversation. Next we walked to the fresh fish market. This fish market was hands down one of the most memorable portions of our whole trip to Morocco and we would never have had it with Moroccan Food Tours. Firstly, we arrived and spoke with the fisherman who had fresh fish on ice. they had so many fish, I wasn't even sure of all the species. Right there, standing, Mohamed had fresh oysters and encouraged us to do the same. My wife and I, although we were nervous, had some oysters and they were delicious! Such a memorable experience. Next we picked out the fish that we wanted, and went to a nearby square brimmed with restaurants. While we waited, Mohamed gave the chefs our freshly picked fish, and they cooked us up a delicious feast of all different kinds of fish and side dishes. By the end of it, our table looked like an elephant graveyard, and we were stuffed. For the last leg of the trip, we walked to La Sqala and had three desserts. The desserts were delicious and a perfect end to our phenomenal tour. Here at La Sqala, Mohamed informed us that he also did tours in Rabat, which was an hour away. We had one day left, but we thought "what the heck" and we are SO thankful that we did! Rabat was amazing!!! Thanks to Mohamed, we were recommended a visit to Rabat and we had the best memories of our trip to Morocco there in Rabat. In Rabat, Mohamed personally drove us around the city. He took us to a breakfast spot overlooking the sea, and had some delicious authentic Moroccan breakfast foods. Then we went to a local outdoor museum which used to be an old fort still complete with cannons. A great kodak moment. After this, Mohamed took us to the walled city of Oudaya within Rabat, which was absolutely awe-inspiring. Many people go to Greece for the blue towns on the coast, and you have all of this inside of Rabat. We saw the locals walking around and cats everywhere. As we did this, Mohamed thoroughly explained the history of Oudaya, as well as the history of Rabat in general. From this, we learned about and gained appreciation for the beauty and resilience of the Moroccan people. Then Mohamed took us to a now-defunct 1000 year old Madrasa, which had amazingly woodcarved friezes and columns, which you have to see to believe. Next we arrived to a fortress on the coast, which was apparently closed down, but not for Mohamed! He worked his magic and we got in. We saw the old basements of this ancient fortress and the cannons in the read overlooking the coast. Mohamed took us to the old markets where I bought hand made belts and purses for gifts. We bought clothes and some local art. We also sampled the local appetizer breads/desserts. We had a delicious aged beef in bread, and other delicious treats. We walked down the streets to a local cafe where we had fried eggplant and other delicious foods. We also bought desserts, which were to die for. Lastly, Mohamed planned to take us a wonderful little restaurant in the heart of the old city, but unfortunately for us, it was closed. But. Fortunately for us, Mohamed saved the day and took us to another restaurant that we all agreed we loved more than the other restaurant had to offer. We had a delicious meal packed with authentic Moroccan foods that my wife and I are still savoring. Mohamed also took videos of us throughout the experience, and shared all of these wonderful memories with us! At this point, it should go without saying, that Moroccan Food tours was an unforgettable experience that absolutely blew us out of the water and created a million memories that we'll always remember.
