Itinerary:
- AucklandYour day begins in New Zealand’s largest city. As we leave Auckland, your guide will set the stage for the day’s adventure, pointing out key landmarks and sharing fascinating insights about the area.
- WaikatoJourney south through the picturesque Waikato countryside, renowned as the world's most extensive farming region. Along the way, take in the beautiful scenery, mighty rivers, and impressive mountains, with plenty of photo opportunities.
- Coromandel PeninsulaEntering the Coromandel Peninsula, you'll encounter its untouched beauty, from white sand beaches to sprawling native forests. We’ll make several scenic stops for short walks and photo opportunities, soaking in the region’s breathtaking landscapes en route to our first major destination.
- Hot Water BeachRelax at the famous Hot Water Beach. If tides allow, dig a hole in the sand to create your personal geothermal spa while ocean waves gently cool you off. Don’t forget swimwear and a change of clothes for this unique experience!
- Cathedral CoveAfter a delicious lunch (own expense), visit Cathedral Cove, one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural landmarks. The challenging walk to Cathedral Cove takes between 30 - 45 minutes, but the reward is well worth it, stunning coastal views and the opportunity to explore this breathtaking beach. Mautohe Cathedral Cove has been named one of the Top 50 Beaches in the World!!
- Return to AucklandAs we head back to Auckland, your guide will ensure the journey remains engaging, including secret stops and more fascinating insights along the way.
PLEASE NOTE: Access to Cathedral Cove is weather-dependent. For safety reasons, the track may be unsuitable after or during heavy rain. In such cases, alternative arrangements will be made to ensure you still have an incredible experience.
Cancellation Policy
Terms: Tours will only run if at least 5 people have booked on the tour, we reserves the right to alter the tour due to weather or operational needs.
A full refund will be issued for cancellations made a minimum of 10 days prior to the scheduled departure time.

5.00Excellent trip with Cheeky Kiwi travel & Dave as our guide - about 11 of us on a long 12 hour tour. Dave certainly made the trip special by making the most of time and having us experience additional scenic spots not on the itinerary (including take away lunch at a near by beach). The hot water beach is a hit or miss in terms of finding a good spot with water that’s more than luke warm. We ended up spending more time in the actual water. The hike to the cove was moderately intense (there’s a boat ride available for NZ$40 pp per way), especially if you’re not in shape. The cove and beach were well worth it. Overall, memorable trip, highly recommend.

5.00Timmy was a great guide!!! He was super friendly and kind. He had good vibes. I had a wonderful time exploring the coromandel peninsula on his tour. He gave us a lot of time and was very nice! Really enjoyed the secret stop! If not for the tour, i wouldnt have been able to experience this! Would do it again.

5.00We had such a fun trip to the Coromandel Peninsula! Our guide Liam was excellent from the moment he picked us up to when he dropped us off. As we drove, he shared so much about the local areas, their flora and fauna, Maori culture and more. He was very knowledgeable and his commentary meant that the journey flew by. My highlight was hot water beach. Liam dug us a hole to put our feet in and it was crazy how hot the water was. It was so nice to run between the sea and the hot water pool. Couldn't recommend this tour highly enough.

5.00Bring a towel and sunscreen. Wear runners. There a 160 ish stairs at the end and some of them have no hand rails. You can take a water taxi back to a different beach for $40 each adult

5.00We took a day trip to Cathedral Cove, Hahei beach and Hot Water Beach with family from Auckland and we were visiting from Washington DC. Simon was our tour operator and did a tremendous job. He’s an engaging and knowledgeable guide, truly a hoot to hang out with. It is also worth noting that, as much of the time is spent in a bus that Simon is driving, that he is clearly a safe and attentive driver of said bus. We had an excellent day experiencing some of the many wonders of New Zealand, we learned a lot, and felt that we received quite the bargain for our vacation dollar. Bravo!
