As a volunteer, you can work as a keeper to make food for them and and Observing the keepers feeding the pandas up close. It is a good chance for you to observe their living habits and physical features. Besides giant pandas, you can also see red pandas and many other cute animals here.

Volunteers must be between 8 and 70 years old. On the day of the event, please do not wear perfume, slippers, or skirts. Please provide your name, passport number, and age when making a reservation, which will be used for the volunteer certificate. Note: For urgent bookings for the following day, please ensure your reservation is made by 6:00 PM. This allows us to apply for and confirm the volunteer activity with the Panda Base during their working hours. Reservations made after this time cannot guarantee a secured spot. We appreciate your understanding.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

What To Expect

Your guide and driver will pick you up at 7:30 AM and drive about 1.5 hours to the panda base. After arrival, sign up and put on your work clothes and gloves. The experienced keepers will give instructions, and your guide will assist throughout the day. 9:00 AM – Preparation Get ready for your volunteer tasks and learn about panda care. 10:00 AM – Panda Feeding & Bamboo Preparation Watch the keepers feed the pandas up close and help prepare fresh bamboo for them. 11:30 AM – Explore the Panda Base Visit other enclosures to see more giant pandas and red pandas, and take part in making panda cakes. 12:30 PM – Lunch Break 1:30 PM – Panda Documentary Enjoy an educational film about panda conservation. 2:00 PM – Certificate Ceremony After a rewarding day of volunteering, receive your certificate as a memory of this meaningful experience. Your guide and driver will then escort you back to Chengdu. Optional Add-On: After your panda volunteering experience, you can add an optional Red Panda Experience, where you’ll step into the red pandas’ habitat, get up close to these adorable creatures, feed them two apple sticks, and capture unforgettable photos together.

Visiting the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Being able to see the pandas live and up close was incredible and very emotional. What made the visit even more special was seeing how much the panda center staff genuinely care about the animals. Their dedication and respect for the pandas’ well-being were clear throughout the visit. A special thanks goes to our guide Michelle, who made the entire experience even more meaningful with her passion, knowledge, and attention. Thanks to her, we truly appreciated the love and effort behind this amazing conservation center.

A brilliant day trip to see the pandas. Michelle, our guide, was fantastic - so kind and friendly, with lots of knowledge about Chengdu and the pandas. Our driver was lovely- very polite and with a very comfortable car! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Michelle and Jason at Real North Adventure were fantastic and helped make my trip to Chengdu a dream. I’ve been wanting to visit the pandas since I was a kid and my day at Dujiangyan lived up to every expectation. Michelle and Jason went above and beyond showing me some local gems in Dujiangyan and inviting me to hot pot (even though I was too jet lagged to take them up on the offer). They offered a advice and tips for the rest of my time in China. Michelle even helped me get prescription glasses and sent them onto my final hotel in Yangshou. Next time I’m in Chengdu, I will for sure reconnect with these two!
