What a fantastic chocolate making workshop! The host was absolutely excellent … warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly engaging throughout. We loved the perfect balance between interesting chocolate-making theory and hands-on creation, with fascinating facts shared along the way. It was fun, informative, and delicious from start to finish. We would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone who loves chocolate or wants to try something new!

Expensive for what you receive, presenter very knowledgable, but is aiming at adults and not allowing for the children in the audience. My granddaughter chose the experience and rated it as OK! She is 12 and found it boring. They enjoyed making the chocolate, but could have expanded this for them to have made a few smaller items. Advertised as 1-2 hrs we were less than an hour and neither of my grandchildren of 8 & 12, felt it was value for money!! I also did not need the sarcastic comment when returning to collect, I had missed the instruction of where to pick up!! Possibly a sign on the door might help.

attended the chocolate-making class on my own and overall found the experience below average. The class lasted about an hour and while the person leading it was nice, engaging, and gave a decent introduction to chocolate and tempering, the overall setup and experience let it down. My work area was at the very end of the bench, right next to the walkway and coat-hanging area. This made the space feel very narrow, with people constantly walking past and getting in the way, which was quite distracting and uncomfortable. While the main instructor was helpful, the other staff came across as miserable and uninterested, which affected the atmosphere. After the class, I decided to get a mocha, which cost £4.50. There was no 10% discount for the café — only for shop items — which felt disappointing given I’d just paid for a class. There was also no seating available in the café, as people were sitting there without having purchased anything, so I had to sit in the waiting area of the main shop instead. Overall, for the price, it didn’t feel worth it — essentially paying for a bar of chocolate and a brief tempering experience. While parts of the class were enjoyable, the poor layout, staff attitude, and lack of value for money meant I wouldn’t do it again.

The experience was good. The lady who was telling us all about the chocolate, was very informative and you could tell she was passionate about her job. The only issue that didn’t sit great with me was the fact the lady breaking up the chocolate (to give out to the group) wasn’t wearing any gloves. She didn’t wash her hands before she started to break up the chocolate either. I also heard another person from another group mention this. I think it would be a good idea to put hand sanitiser on the tables and offer bigger portions of tasting the chocolate at the start. You do get 10 % off in the cafe if you do one of the chocolate experiences. (They did tell us this, as soon as we told them our booking name ) You need to wait 20-30 mins for your chocolate to harden after to take home. I had a hot chocolate in the cafe. The area isn’t big and I managed to get a table. The guy who was working there, I’m sure he said his name was Dane, could see I was struggling and juggling my shopping bags and the hot chocolate and my child 😂. He offered to help with my drink and bags to navigate to the table. Honestly, in such a small busy cafe that’s exactly the kind of staff you need. Someone who is assertive and is helpful. Overall I do think it’s slightly expensive for melting chocolate with a hair dryer. Although my 6 year old enjoyed it and so did my 70 year old mum!

Brilliant experience- we attended with our 7 and 4 year old and the whole family enjoyed. Would highly recommend and good value for money. The passion and enthusiasm from the staff member who hosted our tour was particularly excellent.

Friendly welcome by staff. We were lucky to be in a small group. Interesting learning about the process of chocolate and where it comes from, however I still don't know what chocolate has to do with York. Tiny bits of chocolate to try dark & milk. My 2 teenagers enjoyed the experience, however I dont think we are used to the high content of cocoa and after all that, said they rather the taste of Cadburys, typical. But overall we had a fun hour.

This chocolate bar making workshop should come with a warning that it will only prove to be entertaining for children under 8. For £25 PER PERSON, they give you the smallest little chunks of chocolate to taste and then hand you a cheap hairdryer to melt a little chocolate in a bowl. You fill a plastic mould and hey presto. Its over. They offer 10% off their overpriced hot drinks (coffee is not great) but you only find that out AFTER you've finished the workshop. I ordered the coffee beforehand. Why not ask customers who have ordered their drinks prior to the workshop if they have tickets for a workshop to get 10% off? All in all, it was a lousy waste of time and a huge waste of money. The York Cocoa works company are laughing all the way back to the bank however, so good on em. Its a business after all. I urge you all to look elsewhere for a proper chocolate workshop! This is NOT it.

We have just come back from chocolate House making on Christmas Eve. This was an amazing activity for the family, we learnt a lot and had great fun building our houses to take home. Would highly recommend. Corin was lovely to the kids, took his time explaining everything and helping us all when needed. Thank you
