Our excellent guide was Vasil, who was not only knowledgable, but also managed the group very welll. He was enthousiastic (captivated us all), patient, answered all questions and also provided a balanced view on the achievements and failings socialisme/communisme in Bulgaria

Being able to discover Sofia during the communist era, understand how people experienced it, and see it reflected in buildings and symbols throughout the city was very enriching. 5.00I booked this tour expecting a simple walk past a few communist-era buildings, but it turned out to be a very different and much more interesting experience. Dino was an exceptionally knowledgeable and thoughtful guide who shared many insights and fascinating details about the communist period, far beyond what you would get just by looking at the architecture. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sofia.
