I booked this tour expecting a simple walk past a few communist-era buildings, but it turned out to be a very different and much more interesting experience. Dino was an exceptionally knowledgeable and thoughtful guide who shared many insights and fascinating details about the communist period, far beyond what you would get just by looking at the architecture. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sofia.

Excellent tour and guide! Nikola has such extensive knowledge which, with his excellent English, he puts across in a very clear and interesting manner. In particular he shares the information in a very balanced, unbiased way and is happy to have discussions on various aspects with the participants. Really recommend this tour which illuminates the Communist period very well.

Nikola was an incredibly knowledgeable and engaging tour guide who taught our group so much, all while managing to remain unbiased and share both the positive and negative aspects of Bulgaria’s time under communist rule. This is a worthwhile trip for anyone interested in Bulgaria’s history. The tour company is so lucky to have Nikola on their team!

Really enjoyed our tour with Niki. A lot of interesting information and details, told from a neutral perspective and with a personal touch. Definitely things you would miss if you visit the city without a guide. One tip maybe: pay a little bit more attention to the positioning towards the group. When moving position a lot, some things don't get heard well.
