The sightseeing point of Portela offers a spectacular view over the North side of the island, in particular over the coastal village of Porto da Cruz. After a small break in a nice bar we continue our tour inside the Reserve Natura 2000 network, along dirt roads and trails, always with the endemic Laurel Forest surrounding the trails.

We were a small group, with 2 guides. Good bikes. It is a nice tour, but you should be practiced some cycling at almost 50 km. Great experience, so you experience Madeira very differently.

We had an awesome day, great trails to go down. The guide explained what was coming some jumps, sharp corners or slippery parts so we where well prepared.

Fabio is a great guide!! He knows all the trails of Madeira, we’ve changed our tour a bit, so it fitted even better to our skills! Had a great day (although it was raining, because he borrowed me his jacket 🤣) He also showed us a real Pocha at a local pub, which was pretty cool aswell! Highly recommended!!

Our third tour with Lokoloko and now with a new guide, Bernando. Another local that was informing and fund and pleasant to be around. We asked if we could extend the tour and bike back to the office instead of being picked up and that was no problem for Bernando. Really nice people that work at Lokoloko and great biking tours.

Very nice tour with a great guide (Fabio), who not only showed us the way, but on the way down told nice stories about Madeira and (his personal) history. Unfortunately I was moved from the challenging tour to the easiest one and one of the others from the group clearly lacked MTB experience and stamina. Therefore we had to keep a slow speed and pick the easiest trails, so the experience was less sporty than expected. The good news was that I had more than enough time to enjoy the view and take pictures.

Very nice tour in the southeast with a mix of a few moderate trails and nice levadas, nice views as well as at the end some asphalt and a beer by the sea in Machico. Trails already require some skill, especially on damp surfaces. Occasionally exposed places and obstacles of rock and roots, but technically good to master if you do MTB regularly. Sergio was an accomplished, prudent, very personable guide. Thank you so much!

Superb day. Sergio is engaging, entertaining and very knowledgeable. We worked hard, we played hard, we ate a lovely lunch. You will be pushed! But you will love it!

Cycling downhill might seem an easy option but this trip certainly is not. However, with expert guidance from Sergio plus some strategically timed refreshment breaks it turned out fine. Expect to spend a fair time in (or hovering just above) your saddle but do stop to take in some fabulous scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommended.

Took the Portela tour which is labeled as an XC-tour. The tour had some tough uphill sections, not so technical but long and relatively steep. These were combined with fairly technical trail descents, easy (but sometimes slippery) dirt road descents and fast paved road descents. You got to experience the different vegetation areas of the island and our guide was great at giving us information about the areas along the way. It definitely was a awesome tour but I personally would have hoped for more trail riding...or maybe I’ll just have to try the other tours at disposal ;).
